The Clone Wars Animated Series with Jonathan Braylock - Revenge Of The Podcast

Jonathan Braylock (Black Men Can’t Jump (In Hollywood) podcast) joins Griffin and David on this week’s episode to cover the entirety of the 2003-2005 animated television shorts Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Set during the three year gap between films Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith, the Genndy Tartakovsky directed series is a unanimous hit. Together they discuss all three seasons in extreme detail including: the numerous extended fight scenes, pre-cough General Grievous, C3PO’s comic relief, how-to make a lightsaber and very much more!

Also, reading fan’s iTunes reviews, the recent Jar Jar theory scandal and Producer Ben’s character spotlight.

[00:00:21] [SPEAKER_01]: Let's get ready for an animated discussion.

[00:00:26] [SPEAKER_01]: An animated discussion.

[00:00:30] [SPEAKER_03]: I gotta never let you start these things.

[00:00:32] [SPEAKER_01]: But then you always look to me when-

[00:00:33] [SPEAKER_01]: No, I always look to you because it's hilarious.

[00:00:35] [SPEAKER_01]: And this time too, for the first time producer Ben, aka producer Ben,

[00:00:39] [SPEAKER_01]: aka the Ben Deusser, aka the poet laureate, aka the haas,

[00:00:43] [SPEAKER_01]: aka Mr. Positive, aka the peeper,

[00:00:47] [SPEAKER_01]: aka- I like the peeper.

[00:00:49] [SPEAKER_01]: We all like the peeper.

[00:00:50] [SPEAKER_01]: Peeper plays.

[00:00:52] [SPEAKER_01]: AKA Hello Fennel, Ben Hosley himself, played our theme music.

[00:00:57] [SPEAKER_01]: I know it's weird.

[00:00:58] [SPEAKER_03]: And then he said he would fade it out and then he just abruptly cut it off.

[00:01:01] [SPEAKER_03]: He just turned it off.

[00:01:03] [SPEAKER_02]: But no one needs to know that, David.

[00:01:05] [SPEAKER_02]: Shit.

[00:01:06] [SPEAKER_03]: You're a shoddy producer, Ben.

[00:01:08] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm calling you out.

[00:01:09] [SPEAKER_01]: Fuck you.

[00:01:09] [SPEAKER_01]: Once again, Ben is red with rage.

[00:01:12] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's like I'm trying to do something nice and you're gonna give me shit about it?

[00:01:15] [SPEAKER_02]: Fuck you and never get in the theme song of playin' again.

[00:01:18] [SPEAKER_02]: Ever again.

[00:01:19] [SPEAKER_02]: Thank you, Ben.

[00:01:20] [SPEAKER_02]: You're welcome.

[00:01:20] [SPEAKER_03]: Our guest is laughing.

[00:01:22] [SPEAKER_03]: I guess I have a great time.

[00:01:22] [SPEAKER_03]: One guy likes it.

[00:01:23] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm very excited about our guest today.

[00:01:25] [SPEAKER_01]: Me too.

[00:01:25] [SPEAKER_01]: He has been one of our earliest and most vocal supporters of the show.

[00:01:29] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you know, genius game recognized game.

[00:01:32] [SPEAKER_01]: Game recognized game.

[00:01:34] [SPEAKER_01]: He messaged me like three weeks into I think us doing the show

[00:01:36] [SPEAKER_01]: and was like the thing I hate about the show is that I didn't have the idea for it.

[00:01:41] [SPEAKER_01]: It was just like hats off.

[00:01:44] [SPEAKER_03]: More people should talk about the Phantom Menace.

[00:01:46] [SPEAKER_01]: Yep, he himself is a comedian and an actor and a podcast host of what is my favorite podcast right now.

[00:01:55] [SPEAKER_01]: I will officially say that.

[00:01:57] [SPEAKER_01]: You tweet about it a lot.

[00:01:58] [SPEAKER_01]: I fucking love it.

[00:01:59] [SPEAKER_01]: It's called Black Man Camp Jump in Hollywood.

[00:02:01] [SPEAKER_01]: His name is Jonathan Braylock.

[00:02:03] [SPEAKER_03]: Hello.

[00:02:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Thank you so much for being here.

[00:02:04] [SPEAKER_03]: Thank you for being on the show.

[00:02:06] [SPEAKER_03]: Thank you guys for having me.

[00:02:06] [SPEAKER_03]: And you brought a concept with you for this week's episode too.

[00:02:09] [SPEAKER_03]: I would say.

[00:02:10] [SPEAKER_03]: Okay, that's awesome.

[00:02:11] [SPEAKER_03]: Yes, I did.

[00:02:12] [SPEAKER_03]: I guess I did.

[00:02:13] [SPEAKER_03]: I kind of like was like, Hey, did you guys watch the animated cartoons and you had?

[00:02:19] [SPEAKER_03]: I have entering as an advocate.

[00:02:21] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah.

[00:02:21] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, totally.

[00:02:22] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, totally.

[00:02:23] [SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, while we were planning out this season, I was trying to load in more guests

[00:02:25] [SPEAKER_01]: from the get go and I reached out to you and you said, are you going to talk about

[00:02:30] [SPEAKER_01]: the cartoon show where like we're thinking about it.

[00:02:32] [SPEAKER_01]: If you're passionate about that, do you want us to save that as an episode?

[00:02:35] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes.

[00:02:35] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm waiting all season for this.

[00:02:36] [SPEAKER_01]: And just to sidebar quickly, I believe that anyone who likes this podcast should

[00:02:41] [SPEAKER_01]: already be listening to Black Man Can Jump in Hollywood.

[00:02:43] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, thank you.

[00:02:43] [SPEAKER_01]: I think they are similar sensibilities in terms of the level of analysis and session.

[00:02:51] [SPEAKER_01]: And then just unprofessional tangos.

[00:02:54] [SPEAKER_01]: It's a similar vibe in how we address movies and how our sexual picadillos come out

[00:02:59] [SPEAKER_01]: from the corner.

[00:03:01] [SPEAKER_03]: That is true.

[00:03:01] [SPEAKER_03]: That is true.

[00:03:02] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:03:03] [SPEAKER_01]: But it's you and Jerema again and James the third.

[00:03:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Don't try to figure out how to spell that if it's numbers or numerals.

[00:03:11] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, we still don't know.

[00:03:12] [SPEAKER_03]: Me and Jerema are still trying to figure it out.

[00:03:14] [SPEAKER_01]: No one knows.

[00:03:15] [SPEAKER_01]: But it's a great podcast and I recommend it highly.

[00:03:17] [SPEAKER_01]: It's my favorite show.

[00:03:18] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:03:18] [SPEAKER_03]: We've had some awesome guests on it too.

[00:03:20] [SPEAKER_03]: You had to fucking Keegan-Michael Key.

[00:03:21] [SPEAKER_03]: Keegan-Michael Key.

[00:03:22] [SPEAKER_03]: That's insane.

[00:03:23] [SPEAKER_03]: We should have Keegan-Michael Key.

[00:03:25] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we got a Piscopo's book for next week.

[00:03:27] [SPEAKER_01]: We got Joe Piscopo.

[00:03:29] [SPEAKER_03]: What if Joe Piscopo was on the show?

[00:03:30] [SPEAKER_03]: It'd be great.

[00:03:31] [SPEAKER_01]: I had never seen a Star Wars, but...

[00:03:34] [SPEAKER_01]: But Sinatra once told me.

[00:03:35] [SPEAKER_01]: It's all just him telling stories about how much Sinatra liked his Sinatra impression.

[00:03:40] [SPEAKER_01]: That's the biggest sketch comedian we could get, Mr. Piscopo.

[00:03:43] [SPEAKER_01]: We went for one of the grades.

[00:03:45] [SPEAKER_03]: Is he alive?

[00:03:45] [SPEAKER_03]: He was at SNL 40.

[00:03:47] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, he's alive.

[00:03:47] [SPEAKER_03]: He died the day after SNL 40.

[00:03:50] [SPEAKER_03]: Honestly, I wouldn't be shocked.

[00:03:50] [SPEAKER_01]: He was holding on just for to make it to the 40th anniversary.

[00:03:54] [SPEAKER_01]: Well, okay, but we are talking about something very important today.

[00:03:57] [SPEAKER_01]: For the last six weeks, this is episode seven of...

[00:04:01] [SPEAKER_01]: I can't believe it's in that line.

[00:04:02] [SPEAKER_01]: ...for the present revenge of the podcast.

[00:04:03] [SPEAKER_03]: I can't believe they're not done with this.

[00:04:06] [SPEAKER_03]: I feel like I've been thinking about this movie for forever.

[00:04:09] [SPEAKER_03]: It's definitely stretching out the longest.

[00:04:11] [SPEAKER_03]: Well, you do not agree?

[00:04:12] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, I said we were going to get on to it, but I actually realized we do have a little more housekeeping today.

[00:04:15] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh yeah, you want me to read your reviews?

[00:04:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, let's say that quickly.

[00:04:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Rate, review, subscribe on iTunes as always.

[00:04:21] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, I was a little angry because I told everyone to stop rating because we were at 42.

[00:04:26] [SPEAKER_01]: And I told them to stop...

[00:04:28] [SPEAKER_03]: To not listen to you, because that's crazy.

[00:04:30] [SPEAKER_03]: We need as many ratings as possible.

[00:04:32] [SPEAKER_01]: Well, I'm angry that everyone took David's side rather than mine.

[00:04:34] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, you lost that battle.

[00:04:35] [SPEAKER_01]: I lost that battle hard.

[00:04:37] [SPEAKER_01]: In fact, I just realized I'd never rated the show, so I just gave us five stars.

[00:04:40] [SPEAKER_01]: How many ratings do we have now?

[00:04:42] [SPEAKER_01]: Wait, can I...

[00:04:42] [SPEAKER_03]: Can I...

[00:04:43] [SPEAKER_03]: Just a little sidebar here about how hard it is to rate on iTunes.

[00:04:46] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, it's so hard.

[00:04:47] [SPEAKER_03]: It's so annoying.

[00:04:48] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean everything on it.

[00:04:49] [SPEAKER_03]: So hard.

[00:04:50] [SPEAKER_03]: It is mind-blowing that this is where podcasts originated from and still mostly are listed.

[00:04:56] [SPEAKER_03]: I know.

[00:04:56] [SPEAKER_03]: It's the worst program in the world.

[00:04:58] [SPEAKER_03]: It's the worst.

[00:04:58] [SPEAKER_03]: iTunes, please feature us on your main page.

[00:05:01] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, of course.

[00:05:01] [SPEAKER_01]: John, you're...

[00:05:02] [SPEAKER_01]: We did get featured once, which is awesome.

[00:05:04] [SPEAKER_03]: After the Key Episode, right?

[00:05:05] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah, yeah.

[00:05:06] [SPEAKER_01]: That is awesome.

[00:05:07] [SPEAKER_01]: We're still gunning for that.

[00:05:08] [SPEAKER_03]: But still, I mean the rating thing, like people have been like, how do you I rate?

[00:05:12] [SPEAKER_03]: And I'm like, I don't know.

[00:05:13] [SPEAKER_03]: Honestly, I don't know when I rate if it actually logs in or not.

[00:05:17] [SPEAKER_01]: It never seems to register.

[00:05:18] [SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't seem to register.

[00:05:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Because I'm always trying to rate my own show five stars.

[00:05:22] [SPEAKER_01]: And anytime I'm on someone else's computer, I'm like, let me borrow that for a second

[00:05:26] [SPEAKER_01]: because I'm like, oh, different account.

[00:05:27] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, exactly.

[00:05:28] [SPEAKER_01]: And then I don't see the number.

[00:05:29] [SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't come up.

[00:05:30] [SPEAKER_03]: It doesn't come up.

[00:05:30] [SPEAKER_03]: I also like, I do know how to do it.

[00:05:33] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I didn't know but I just found out.

[00:05:35] [SPEAKER_03]: But there's one thing, I can't upload a video to YouTube.

[00:05:38] [SPEAKER_03]: Have you ever done that?

[00:05:38] [SPEAKER_03]: I've never uploaded a video to YouTube.

[00:05:40] [SPEAKER_03]: That actually varies.

[00:05:41] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm not saying it's hard.

[00:05:42] [SPEAKER_03]: I've just never done it.

[00:05:43] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh yeah.

[00:05:43] [SPEAKER_03]: I've never had calls to YouTube.

[00:05:44] [SPEAKER_03]: Let me...

[00:05:45] [SPEAKER_03]: No, no, okay.

[00:05:46] [SPEAKER_03]: Anyway, let's get right on.

[00:05:46] [SPEAKER_01]: Wait, no, no.

[00:05:47] [SPEAKER_01]: There's a review I want to read.

[00:05:48] [SPEAKER_01]: Well, I'm gonna read it.

[00:05:49] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, you wanna read it?

[00:05:49] [SPEAKER_03]: Do you know which one I'm talking about?

[00:05:50] [SPEAKER_03]: Well, it's gotta be from Dancehall Maniac.

[00:05:53] [SPEAKER_01]: I think so?

[00:05:54] [SPEAKER_01]: I think so.

[00:05:55] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I wanna read these.

[00:05:56] [SPEAKER_03]: Okay.

[00:05:56] [SPEAKER_03]: I looked at reviews last night.

[00:05:57] [SPEAKER_03]: There were a couple new interests.

[00:05:58] [SPEAKER_03]: There's a couple because the last one was the stop eating on mic.

[00:06:01] [SPEAKER_03]: It's disgusting.

[00:06:02] [SPEAKER_03]: Are you buying most recent?

[00:06:03] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah, yeah.

[00:06:04] [SPEAKER_03]: You guys still only have one, one star.

[00:06:06] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that's everything else is the five star.

[00:06:07] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah, yeah.

[00:06:08] [SPEAKER_03]: Everything else is five stars.

[00:06:08] [SPEAKER_01]: We don't know if it's the master of the apprentice in the Sith dynamic yet.

[00:06:11] [SPEAKER_01]: But it's one of the two.

[00:06:12] [SPEAKER_01]: So we're only gonna get two one star ratings.

[00:06:14] [SPEAKER_03]: Did your one star leave a review or they just left the one star?

[00:06:17] [SPEAKER_03]: And they said stop eating on mic.

[00:06:19] [SPEAKER_03]: It's disgusting.

[00:06:20] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, but so they did leave a review.

[00:06:21] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that's the review.

[00:06:22] [SPEAKER_03]: We got a one star rating, but they didn't leave a review.

[00:06:25] [SPEAKER_01]: It was probably Peel.

[00:06:27] [SPEAKER_01]: He was angry.

[00:06:28] [SPEAKER_01]: Son of a bitch.

[00:06:30] [SPEAKER_03]: All right, sorry.

[00:06:30] [SPEAKER_03]: Okay, okay.

[00:06:32] [SPEAKER_03]: Okay, so I think there's actually been a lot of fun little reviews.

[00:06:35] [SPEAKER_03]: So I want to read out a few of them.

[00:06:36] [SPEAKER_03]: Sure.

[00:06:36] [SPEAKER_03]: Review spotlight.

[00:06:37] [SPEAKER_03]: Here we go.

[00:06:39] [SPEAKER_03]: Okay, I want to, you know, someone called Bill3462 said could use more discussion of Kit Visto in my humble opinion.

[00:06:46] [SPEAKER_03]: That was on October 15th.

[00:06:47] [SPEAKER_03]: So I hope you're happy, buddy.

[00:06:48] [SPEAKER_03]: That guy's over the moon right now.

[00:06:50] [SPEAKER_03]: That's Chris Gethard.

[00:06:53] [SPEAKER_03]: Bill3460, what a cryptic.

[00:06:55] [SPEAKER_03]: He made a poppy script name.

[00:06:58] [SPEAKER_03]: Chris Gethard and it's Kit Visto campaign.

[00:07:01] [SPEAKER_03]: Okay.

[00:07:01] [SPEAKER_01]: I didn't say this last week, but when, when I was texting with Chris to get him to do the show,

[00:07:05] [SPEAKER_01]: because we've been trying to get him on since Phantom and the scheduling was always up early.

[00:07:08] [SPEAKER_01]: And when he finally locked down a date, he was like, wait, before I agree to do this,

[00:07:12] [SPEAKER_01]: it's cool if I talk about Kit Visto, right?

[00:07:15] [SPEAKER_01]: Wait, did he really?

[00:07:16] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it was conditional.

[00:07:17] [SPEAKER_01]: He was like, I really have a lot to say about Kit Visto.

[00:07:19] [SPEAKER_03]: Can I also, I feel like Kit Visto is black.

[00:07:22] [SPEAKER_03]: Like I know he's a green, like, squid-like swimming alien, but I feel like he's...

[00:07:26] [SPEAKER_01]: He's definitely got that vibe.

[00:07:27] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mean, so, honestly, when we found out last week that the actor was basically Jason Statham look alike,

[00:07:33] [SPEAKER_03]: I think we were all a little surprised because I think we all might have secretly been like thinking like,

[00:07:37] [SPEAKER_03]: it's probably a black guy, right?

[00:07:38] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it's a black.

[00:07:39] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, he just has a swagger to him.

[00:07:40] [SPEAKER_03]: And is it the hair?

[00:07:41] [SPEAKER_03]: Like he's got the long sort of, you know, dreadlock-sy thing.

[00:07:44] [SPEAKER_01]: That's true.

[00:07:45] [SPEAKER_01]: I would say maybe I think he was mixed, that he was like, gnawed a little bit and black.

[00:07:51] [SPEAKER_01]: Anyway.

[00:07:52] [SPEAKER_01]: But an important thing I realized after the fact, because we were like,

[00:07:55] [SPEAKER_01]: the fact that we all gave like Kit Visto most improved, that we loved the performance so much,

[00:07:59] [SPEAKER_01]: that he carried the movie...

[00:08:00] [SPEAKER_01]: Which is absurd by the way.

[00:08:02] [SPEAKER_01]: Braylock, there's no room for your negativity here.

[00:08:05] [SPEAKER_01]: This very positive show.

[00:08:06] [SPEAKER_01]: We're produced by Mr. Positive himself, Ben Haas.

[00:08:08] [SPEAKER_01]: That's true.

[00:08:09] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, Ben loves the Star Wars though.

[00:08:11] [SPEAKER_03]: Loves him.

[00:08:12] [SPEAKER_03]: He's very positive.

[00:08:13] [SPEAKER_03]: Trilogy.

[00:08:13] [SPEAKER_03]: That's my favorite thing.

[00:08:14] [SPEAKER_03]: Glad we spent months on it.

[00:08:16] [SPEAKER_01]: Do you know that Kit Visto was played by a different actor in Revenge of the Sith and Attack of the Clones?

[00:08:20] [SPEAKER_01]: Is that true?

[00:08:22] [SPEAKER_03]: Because we were just talking about his Revenge of the Sith performance.

[00:08:24] [SPEAKER_01]: I know.

[00:08:25] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:08:25] [SPEAKER_01]: And we liked him in Clones, but a lot more in Sith.

[00:08:27] [SPEAKER_03]: Well in Clones he has the big smile.

[00:08:29] [SPEAKER_03]: No, I said I liked him better in Clones.

[00:08:31] [SPEAKER_03]: It's on the record last week.

[00:08:32] [SPEAKER_03]: Okay, well I like the Sith actor better.

[00:08:34] [SPEAKER_03]: In Clones he has the big smile.

[00:08:35] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:08:35] [SPEAKER_03]: In Clones he has the moment where he pushes the droids over and he flashes

[00:08:38] [SPEAKER_03]: that big smile and you're like, wait who is this guy?

[00:08:40] [SPEAKER_03]: He's having fun.

[00:08:41] [SPEAKER_04]: Revenge of the Sith, he doesn't put up a fight.

[00:08:44] [SPEAKER_04]: Stabbed in the heart.

[00:08:45] [SPEAKER_03]: Braylock we have no time for this.

[00:08:46] [SPEAKER_03]: We have no time for this.

[00:08:47] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm going to read you and then we're going to get to our actual thing.

[00:08:50] [SPEAKER_03]: Pancake Amidala says.

[00:08:52] [SPEAKER_03]: Great username.

[00:08:52] [SPEAKER_03]: Great username.

[00:08:53] [SPEAKER_03]: Says enjoyable but could use more pillars.

[00:08:56] [SPEAKER_03]: Which is pretty fun.

[00:08:57] [SPEAKER_03]: Really funny.

[00:08:57] [SPEAKER_03]: Because I talk about those pillars a lot.

[00:08:59] [SPEAKER_03]: Really, really funny.

[00:09:04] [SPEAKER_03]: Avery Edison who's a Twitter friend of mine.

[00:09:06] [SPEAKER_03]: One of your best.

[00:09:07] [SPEAKER_03]: Great person.

[00:09:09] [SPEAKER_03]: Says the only reason I can think of for my not having written a review is

[00:09:13] [SPEAKER_03]: that I've been too busy listening to it over and over.

[00:09:15] [SPEAKER_03]: She's really just nice.

[00:09:16] [SPEAKER_03]: This isn't a funny review.

[00:09:17] [SPEAKER_03]: Thank you Avery.

[00:09:18] [SPEAKER_03]: That's very sweet.

[00:09:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Avery's great.

[00:09:20] [SPEAKER_01]: Avery also just recently started a podcast which I haven't listened to yet but I downloaded.

[00:09:24] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, I haven't listened to it either but I have also downloaded it.

[00:09:25] [SPEAKER_01]: We will both probably plug it next week when we listen to it.

[00:09:28] [SPEAKER_03]: I am too hot on this thing.

[00:09:29] [SPEAKER_03]: The message.

[00:09:29] [SPEAKER_03]: Have you guys listened to this?

[00:09:30] [SPEAKER_03]: No.

[00:09:31] [SPEAKER_03]: Anyway, I'll tell you about it off.

[00:09:32] [SPEAKER_03]: Really, it's a cool new podcast.

[00:09:34] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't need to plug it.

[00:09:35] [SPEAKER_03]: It's like a totally huge hit but it's just actually good.

[00:09:38] [SPEAKER_03]: It freaked me out last night.

[00:09:39] [SPEAKER_03]: Scary.

[00:09:40] [SPEAKER_01]: Final piece of housekeeping?

[00:09:41] [SPEAKER_03]: One more review.

[00:09:42] [SPEAKER_03]: I just...

[00:09:43] [SPEAKER_03]: Well Dance Hall Maniac says,

[00:09:45] [SPEAKER_03]: Hot takes on the new sci-fi songs music opera.

[00:09:48] [SPEAKER_03]: Hope your Hollywood-Bollywood connections can find out if there's an episode four.

[00:09:52] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know what that means.

[00:09:53] [SPEAKER_03]: That's the ramblings of a madman.

[00:09:56] [SPEAKER_03]: So there you go.

[00:09:57] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.

[00:09:57] [SPEAKER_03]: Do we have Bollywood connections or something?

[00:09:59] [SPEAKER_03]: I have no idea what that means.

[00:10:01] [SPEAKER_03]: Also why would Bollywood know about Disney's...

[00:10:04] [SPEAKER_03]: Well let's think...

[00:10:05] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, a Bollywood Star Wars movie would probably be pretty crazy.

[00:10:09] [SPEAKER_01]: That would be good.

[00:10:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Disney is a pretty global company.

[00:10:14] [SPEAKER_01]: Who knows?

[00:10:16] [SPEAKER_03]: Moving on!

[00:10:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Final piece of housekeeping before we get onto our subject today.

[00:10:19] [SPEAKER_01]: I know what you want to talk about.

[00:10:20] [SPEAKER_03]: This is big announcement.

[00:10:21] [SPEAKER_03]: Breaking news.

[00:10:22] [SPEAKER_01]: Breaking news.

[00:10:22] [SPEAKER_01]: This is literally hot off the presses.

[00:10:24] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm really excited.

[00:10:25] [SPEAKER_01]: If the presses are emails from two hours ago.

[00:10:27] [SPEAKER_01]: Yep.

[00:10:28] [SPEAKER_01]: This is episode seven of Revenge of the podcast.

[00:10:31] [SPEAKER_01]: That's right.

[00:10:31] [SPEAKER_01]: The third and final film in George Lucas's...

[00:10:34] [SPEAKER_01]: Sad but true.

[00:10:36] [SPEAKER_01]: Star Wars saga.

[00:10:36] [SPEAKER_01]: His opus.

[00:10:37] [SPEAKER_01]: Phantom Man is trilogy.

[00:10:38] [SPEAKER_01]: We really want to blow it out.

[00:10:40] [SPEAKER_01]: Because we're ending this thing.

[00:10:42] [SPEAKER_01]: It's going to end...

[00:10:43] [SPEAKER_01]: The show, the podcast is not ending.

[00:10:45] [SPEAKER_01]: But the Star Wars discussion is.

[00:10:47] [SPEAKER_01]: We've had this trilogy of Star Wars mini series.

[00:10:51] [SPEAKER_01]: And that's done.

[00:10:52] [SPEAKER_01]: There are no more Star Wars movies left.

[00:10:53] [SPEAKER_01]: So we're going to move on come December to some new projects.

[00:10:56] [SPEAKER_01]: Move on this stuff.

[00:10:57] [SPEAKER_01]: Which we will announce later.

[00:10:59] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:10:59] [SPEAKER_01]: But we really want to send off Star Wars with a bang.

[00:11:02] [SPEAKER_01]: Because who knows if we'll ever cover three movies in this...

[00:11:05] [SPEAKER_01]: Such great depth ever again.

[00:11:08] [SPEAKER_01]: So I am proud to announce that November 23rd...

[00:11:11] [SPEAKER_01]: Mark your calendars.

[00:11:12] [SPEAKER_01]: Is it November 23rd?

[00:11:13] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, Monday November 23rd at Union Hall.

[00:11:18] [SPEAKER_01]: Time not yet set.

[00:11:20] [SPEAKER_01]: Sure.

[00:11:20] [SPEAKER_01]: We will be doing a live Griffin and David Presents Revenge of the podcast finale.

[00:11:27] [SPEAKER_03]: It's the 22nd Griffin.

[00:11:27] [SPEAKER_01]: Is the 22nd?

[00:11:29] [SPEAKER_03]: No, it's the 23rd.

[00:11:30] [SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.

[00:11:32] [SPEAKER_01]: Don't confuse our listeners.

[00:11:34] [SPEAKER_01]: 23rd November 23rd.

[00:11:35] [SPEAKER_01]: Monday November 23rd Union Hall.

[00:11:37] [SPEAKER_03]: That sounds super exciting.

[00:11:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Union Hall in Brooklyn.

[00:11:39] [SPEAKER_01]: It's going to be unbelievable.

[00:11:39] [SPEAKER_01]: Union Fifth Avenue.

[00:11:41] [SPEAKER_01]: We might have huge special guests.

[00:11:43] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:11:44] [SPEAKER_01]: But we're going to...

[00:11:46] [SPEAKER_01]: We'll have at least one special guest.

[00:11:47] [SPEAKER_01]: If you're a fan of the show you should come to that.

[00:11:49] [SPEAKER_01]: Tickets will be on sale by the time this is posted.

[00:11:52] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:11:52] [SPEAKER_01]: More details to follow.

[00:11:54] [SPEAKER_01]: But just mark your fucking calendars.

[00:11:55] [SPEAKER_01]: Do it.

[00:11:56] [SPEAKER_01]: November 23rd, Griffin Day Present Revenge of the podcast live.

[00:11:59] [SPEAKER_01]: We're blowing it out.

[00:12:00] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm excited.

[00:12:01] [SPEAKER_01]: Come sit with us as we watch Revenge of the Sith for the last time ever.

[00:12:06] [SPEAKER_01]: We will be for the last time ever.

[00:12:07] [SPEAKER_01]: We will never watch it ever again.

[00:12:09] [SPEAKER_03]: Maybe once I have children.

[00:12:11] [SPEAKER_03]: No, why?

[00:12:12] [SPEAKER_03]: It's a tough decision to make but...

[00:12:14] [SPEAKER_03]: I would never show my children this.

[00:12:16] [SPEAKER_03]: Rather they see it with me than with some bad kids.

[00:12:20] [SPEAKER_01]: You know it's a thing that I would love to show my children?

[00:12:25] [SPEAKER_01]: Jendi Tarotovsky's Clone Wars Animated Microsavers.

[00:12:30] [SPEAKER_03]: Star Wars, Colin the Clone Wars.

[00:12:31] [SPEAKER_03]: Star Wars, Colin the Clone Wars.

[00:12:32] [SPEAKER_03]: Clone Wars, yeah.

[00:12:33] [SPEAKER_01]: That is our subject today.

[00:12:34] [SPEAKER_01]: Now that we've got an hour of housekeeping out of the way.

[00:12:36] [SPEAKER_01]: Boom.

[00:12:37] [SPEAKER_03]: And that's what you're here to talk about.

[00:12:39] [SPEAKER_03]: Yes, I'm so excited to talk about this.

[00:12:41] [SPEAKER_03]: This is different than...

[00:12:43] [SPEAKER_03]: Because there's like two other Clone Wars animated series.

[00:12:44] [SPEAKER_03]: There's a lot of shit.

[00:12:46] [SPEAKER_03]: There's actually a movie too right?

[00:12:48] [SPEAKER_03]: There's a movie too.

[00:12:49] [SPEAKER_03]: Yes.

[00:12:50] [SPEAKER_03]: Not Lucas Direct.

[00:12:51] [SPEAKER_03]: No, it's like...

[00:12:52] [SPEAKER_01]: No, so let me just do a little table dressing of what happened here.

[00:12:56] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, let's dress this table.

[00:12:57] [SPEAKER_01]: 2002 Attack the Clones comes out.

[00:13:00] [SPEAKER_01]: 2003, the following year Cartoon Network releases Star Wars, Colin the Clone Wars.

[00:13:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes.

[00:13:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Which is a series of ten three-minute episodes directed by my favorite, Jendi Tarotovsky,

[00:13:14] [SPEAKER_01]: creator of Textures Lab and Samurai Jack.

[00:13:16] [SPEAKER_01]: But also...

[00:13:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Also the Hotel Transylvania franchise.

[00:13:20] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we've talked about it quite a lot.

[00:13:22] [SPEAKER_03]: Of course.

[00:13:23] [SPEAKER_03]: Did you see Hotel Transylvania 3 got Greenlit?

[00:13:26] [SPEAKER_03]: But he's not directed.

[00:13:27] [SPEAKER_03]: I was going to ask you if he's going to be on board.

[00:13:29] [SPEAKER_03]: Sounds like no.

[00:13:30] [SPEAKER_03]: Very iffy on the future of that franchise.

[00:13:32] [SPEAKER_03]: He wasn't a fan of two, right?

[00:13:33] [SPEAKER_01]: He didn't like the process of making it.

[00:13:34] [SPEAKER_03]: But two is making some money.

[00:13:36] [SPEAKER_01]: Making the box.

[00:13:37] [SPEAKER_01]: Which I think he's going to use...

[00:13:38] [SPEAKER_01]: He's got to do something.

[00:13:39] [SPEAKER_01]: He has an original project in the works at Sony which is hopefully going to get Greenlit.

[00:13:43] [SPEAKER_03]: I love Textures Lab.

[00:13:44] [SPEAKER_03]: Textures Lab was huge for me.

[00:13:46] [SPEAKER_03]: Huge as a kid.

[00:13:47] [SPEAKER_01]: Amazing.

[00:13:48] [SPEAKER_01]: Laboratory.

[00:13:49] [SPEAKER_01]: Laboratory.

[00:13:50] [SPEAKER_01]: D.D.

[00:13:51] [SPEAKER_03]: Sorry.

[00:13:52] [SPEAKER_01]: He's honestly one of my favorite content creators in the world.

[00:13:56] [SPEAKER_01]: He's creating that...

[00:13:57] [SPEAKER_01]: Samurai Jack is special.

[00:13:59] [SPEAKER_01]: He's really special.

[00:14:00] [SPEAKER_01]: And then it had come right before this?

[00:14:02] [SPEAKER_03]: Yes.

[00:14:02] [SPEAKER_03]: Because this does seem to share a lot with that series.

[00:14:05] [SPEAKER_01]: That debut is 2001.

[00:14:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Lucas is a fan.

[00:14:08] [SPEAKER_01]: He goes, okay, I'm making these two movies.

[00:14:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Of course, logically, I'm going to keep the Clone Wars entirely off-screen.

[00:14:14] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, of course.

[00:14:15] [SPEAKER_01]: I want someone to flesh it out.

[00:14:18] [SPEAKER_01]: Let's not see that.

[00:14:18] [SPEAKER_01]: Let's not see that.

[00:14:19] [SPEAKER_04]: Let's see.

[00:14:21] [SPEAKER_03]: Did you...

[00:14:21] [SPEAKER_03]: The Clone Wars?

[00:14:24] [SPEAKER_03]: That have to be the Wars in the Star Wars, right?

[00:14:27] [SPEAKER_03]: That's what the Wars is.

[00:14:29] [SPEAKER_03]: But you don't show the Wars.

[00:14:30] [SPEAKER_03]: No.

[00:14:30] [SPEAKER_03]: Okay.

[00:14:31] [SPEAKER_03]: Don't show them.

[00:14:31] [SPEAKER_01]: He says, outsource it.

[00:14:33] [SPEAKER_01]: Thankfully he outsourced it to one of the finest living filmmakers.

[00:14:36] [SPEAKER_03]: Yes.

[00:14:36] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, to the guy who made Samurai Jack.

[00:14:38] [SPEAKER_03]: I think Samurai Jack was what drew Lucas.

[00:14:41] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes.

[00:14:41] [SPEAKER_01]: And he said, do Star Wars in your style.

[00:14:44] [SPEAKER_01]: I want something like Samurai Jack for this.

[00:14:46] [SPEAKER_01]: So it was a series of 10 three-minute episodes that would air.

[00:14:50] [SPEAKER_01]: Like they'd premiere each one during the summer on their Friday night block.

[00:14:55] [SPEAKER_01]: Like before the new episode of Powerpuff Girls, they'd be like, and here's the new...

[00:14:59] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it would be interesting.

[00:14:59] [SPEAKER_01]: And there were two seasons.

[00:15:01] [SPEAKER_03]: There were two seasons of this.

[00:15:02] [SPEAKER_01]: There were two three-minute seasons.

[00:15:05] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes.

[00:15:06] [SPEAKER_01]: So it was 2003, 10 three-minute episodes.

[00:15:09] [SPEAKER_01]: 2004, 10 three-minute episodes.

[00:15:11] [SPEAKER_01]: And then 2005.

[00:15:12] [SPEAKER_01]: Leaning up to Revenge of the Sith's release.

[00:15:14] [SPEAKER_01]: It was five 12-minute episodes.

[00:15:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, 15 minutes.

[00:15:18] [SPEAKER_03]: Something like that.

[00:15:18] [SPEAKER_03]: I want to just make something clear though.

[00:15:23] [SPEAKER_03]: Tartotowski explained that he got this gig because Lucasfilm was worried that the action figures from the recent Star Wars movies were not selling as well as expected.

[00:15:31] [SPEAKER_03]: That was the impetus for George Lucas deciding to do this.

[00:15:35] [SPEAKER_03]: Well...

[00:15:35] [SPEAKER_03]: I think he thought like the kids aren't noticing this show.

[00:15:38] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, these movies, they're not buying the toys.

[00:15:41] [SPEAKER_03]: Let's get it on the Cartoon Network.

[00:15:43] [SPEAKER_01]: I got a big merchandise spotlight coming up the way that I'm so excited about.

[00:15:46] [SPEAKER_03]: I also want to note that as a child my favorite number was 67 because that was the number of the Cartoon Network.

[00:15:51] [SPEAKER_03]: On my cable box.

[00:15:53] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, interesting.

[00:15:53] [SPEAKER_03]: Which I watched every single bit.

[00:15:54] [SPEAKER_01]: It was... I feel like it was 22 for me.

[00:15:56] [SPEAKER_03]: I feel like it was like 40.

[00:15:57] [SPEAKER_03]: Uptown down 10.

[00:15:58] [SPEAKER_03]: 44, okay.

[00:16:00] [SPEAKER_01]: What can I say?

[00:16:02] [SPEAKER_01]: Final season comes out before Revenge of the Sith.

[00:16:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Yup.

[00:16:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Revenge of the Sith comes out three years later in 2008.

[00:16:08] [SPEAKER_01]: George Lucas had self-produced a full CGI animated Clone Wars 22 minute season.

[00:16:15] [SPEAKER_01]: Try to episode 22 minutes.

[00:16:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Who's that much later?

[00:16:18] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, three years later.

[00:16:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Wow.

[00:16:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Because he produced a bunch at once.

[00:16:21] [SPEAKER_01]: He self-produced it once again independently and then sold them to Cartoon Network.

[00:16:25] [SPEAKER_01]: He liked the way it was turning out so he had them edit the first four episodes of that series into a movie and release that in theater.

[00:16:34] [SPEAKER_03]: Wait, that wasn't even...

[00:16:35] [SPEAKER_03]: Was not designed as a movie.

[00:16:37] [SPEAKER_03]: It wasn't designed as a movie?

[00:16:38] [SPEAKER_03]: No.

[00:16:38] [SPEAKER_03]: It was just the first fucking garbage.

[00:16:41] [SPEAKER_03]: What?

[00:16:42] [SPEAKER_03]: I've never seen it.

[00:16:43] [SPEAKER_03]: I've never seen it.

[00:16:44] [SPEAKER_03]: I've never seen it.

[00:16:45] [SPEAKER_01]: So I watched it like also this week in preparation for this.

[00:16:48] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, wow.

[00:16:49] [SPEAKER_01]: Because I think there's a really interesting contrast between these two things.

[00:16:52] [SPEAKER_01]: And then of course like four months after that or not even maybe a month or two after the movie comes out, the full season starts minus four episodes because they've released them theatrically.

[00:17:01] [SPEAKER_01]: That show ran for I think 120 episodes.

[00:17:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Wow.

[00:17:04] [SPEAKER_01]: I've been slowly making 121 episodes.

[00:17:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Is it weird how popular Star Wars is?

[00:17:10] [SPEAKER_04]: It's very strange.

[00:17:11] [SPEAKER_04]: Because it's not good.

[00:17:13] [SPEAKER_04]: Not very good.

[00:17:14] [SPEAKER_03]: The trilogy is not good.

[00:17:15] [SPEAKER_03]: But John, you also...

[00:17:17] [SPEAKER_03]: We have done like 30 episodes about it.

[00:17:19] [SPEAKER_03]: You're right.

[00:17:20] [SPEAKER_03]: You're absolutely right.

[00:17:22] [SPEAKER_03]: Here we are.

[00:17:22] [SPEAKER_03]: I agree.

[00:17:23] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know what draws me to it.

[00:17:27] [SPEAKER_03]: Well, you grew up loving these films.

[00:17:28] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I did but I guess it makes more...

[00:17:31] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, we were kind of kids still.

[00:17:34] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, we were kids.

[00:17:35] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:17:35] [SPEAKER_03]: So like...

[00:17:36] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:17:36] [SPEAKER_03]: So like it makes sense.

[00:17:38] Like...

[00:17:39] [SPEAKER_03]: You know the Phantom Menace is a kids movie.

[00:17:42] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it's a kids movie.

[00:17:43] [SPEAKER_03]: It's a kids movie.

[00:17:43] [SPEAKER_03]: Because I want to talk about this Jar Jar thing that's been going around.

[00:17:47] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh yes, final piece of housekeeping.

[00:17:49] [SPEAKER_03]: Final piece of housekeeping.

[00:17:50] [SPEAKER_03]: We need to talk about this.

[00:17:50] [SPEAKER_03]: 80 people have tweeted this shit.

[00:17:51] [SPEAKER_03]: I started reading it.

[00:17:52] [SPEAKER_03]: I didn't read the full thing.

[00:17:53] [SPEAKER_03]: No because I put it.

[00:17:54] [SPEAKER_03]: Horseshit!

[00:17:55] [SPEAKER_01]: You have no idea how many tweets and texts David and I have received in the last week.

[00:17:59] [SPEAKER_01]: I swear to God.

[00:18:00] [SPEAKER_03]: Because people are like...

[00:18:02] [SPEAKER_03]: And I was talking with my roommate about this last night.

[00:18:04] [SPEAKER_03]: He was saying the biggest argument against this idea apart from all the other arguments

[00:18:09] [SPEAKER_03]: is the idea that George Lucas would ever insert a subtle character arc into any of these movies.

[00:18:15] [SPEAKER_03]: If George was evil, he would look right at the camera and give it an evil glance in every movie.

[00:18:21] [SPEAKER_03]: No.

[00:18:22] [SPEAKER_03]: And then say, PAH!

[00:18:24] [SPEAKER_03]: You want to talk about that Jar Jar thing?

[00:18:26] [SPEAKER_01]: This is my three-part answer to the entire Jar Jar.

[00:18:29] [SPEAKER_03]: So I guess the brief idea is like he's basically so clumsy, it's almost an athletic kind of clumsy.

[00:18:35] [SPEAKER_03]: It's a disguise.

[00:18:36] [SPEAKER_03]: The clumsyness is a disguiser.

[00:18:38] [SPEAKER_03]: He's a Sith Lord too.

[00:18:39] [SPEAKER_01]: He was force trained.

[00:18:40] [SPEAKER_01]: He was causing all this damage on purpose.

[00:18:42] [SPEAKER_03]: And like luck...

[00:18:43] [SPEAKER_03]: They reference like when he like falls down and has that gun like attached to his leg

[00:18:49] [SPEAKER_03]: and he just like accidentally shoots everything.

[00:18:51] [SPEAKER_03]: He's like, you can't do that by accident.

[00:18:54] [SPEAKER_03]: That's what the movie did though.

[00:18:55] [SPEAKER_03]: The movie's a whole fucking idea is he does everything by accident.

[00:18:58] [SPEAKER_03]: Yes.

[00:18:58] [SPEAKER_03]: He's a buffoon.

[00:18:59] [SPEAKER_01]: You know the explanation for that?

[00:19:02] [SPEAKER_01]: Being like, man that couldn't happen on accident is not oh he was secretly evil.

[00:19:05] [SPEAKER_01]: It was oh this is a poorly made film.

[00:19:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.

[00:19:08] [SPEAKER_01]: That's the explanation for why that couldn't happen.

[00:19:09] [SPEAKER_03]: But that's... yeah just a test to how much people want Star Wars to be good.

[00:19:14] [SPEAKER_01]: Here's my three-part answer to everyone who has been asking me about this theory.

[00:19:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Part one.

[00:19:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes I have read the Jar Jar.

[00:19:21] [SPEAKER_03]: Correct!

[00:19:22] [SPEAKER_03]: Me too!

[00:19:22] [SPEAKER_03]: On Reddit and on Wired and on whatever else fucking wrote about it.

[00:19:26] [SPEAKER_03]: Part two.

[00:19:27] [SPEAKER_03]: It's mad dumb.

[00:19:28] [SPEAKER_03]: It's real real stupid.

[00:19:30] [SPEAKER_01]: Dumb as shit.

[00:19:31] [SPEAKER_01]: It's real real.

[00:19:31] [SPEAKER_01]: Fan theory suck.

[00:19:32] [SPEAKER_01]: Yep.

[00:19:33] [SPEAKER_01]: Part three.

[00:19:34] [SPEAKER_01]: I do genuinely appreciate and am touched by the number of people who read a stupid Star Wars thing

[00:19:39] [SPEAKER_01]: and immediately had to turn to me for comment.

[00:19:41] [SPEAKER_01]: Like the amount of messages I've gotten.

[00:19:44] [SPEAKER_01]: From what do you think?

[00:19:45] [SPEAKER_01]: What do you think?

[00:19:46] [SPEAKER_01]: From like friends, from listeners of the show.

[00:19:49] [SPEAKER_01]: I am touched by the fact that when you read Stupid Star Wars bullshit

[00:19:52] [SPEAKER_01]: David and I are the other first two people you think of.

[00:19:54] [SPEAKER_01]: But this theory is stupid and we don't prove of it.

[00:19:58] [SPEAKER_01]: Agreed, but thank you for your treats and kindness.

[00:20:00] [SPEAKER_01]: Thanks for thanking us.

[00:20:01] [SPEAKER_01]: I do appreciate it.

[00:20:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Clone Wars runs for like six seasons.

[00:20:05] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but we're not even...

[00:20:06] [SPEAKER_01]: No, no, no.

[00:20:07] [SPEAKER_01]: But the point is the main reason he decided to do that full series was because of how popular

[00:20:14] [SPEAKER_01]: and beloved this Jandy Tartowski mini-series was.

[00:20:18] [SPEAKER_01]: Right!

[00:20:18] [SPEAKER_01]: That's why right?

[00:20:19] [SPEAKER_01]: It paved the way.

[00:20:20] [SPEAKER_01]: I think each season one in Emmy.

[00:20:22] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes that's correct.

[00:20:23] [SPEAKER_01]: It was the first online show to win an Emmy because these episodes would go up online as

[00:20:27] [SPEAKER_01]: well as on Cartoon Network.

[00:20:29] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I watched it online.

[00:20:30] [SPEAKER_03]: And it was like loved.

[00:20:32] [SPEAKER_03]: Seasons one and two one for animated program in 2004.

[00:20:36] [SPEAKER_03]: That's awesome.

[00:20:37] [SPEAKER_03]: Season three one and 2005.

[00:20:38] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:20:38] [SPEAKER_03]: The same category.

[00:20:40] [SPEAKER_01]: So we for this episode today watched when they were released on DVD seasons one and

[00:20:46] [SPEAKER_01]: two were one volume season three was one volume and they edited each of those

[00:20:50] [SPEAKER_01]: volumes together into like...

[00:20:52] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it's like a two hour 15 minute super cut of everything.

[00:20:56] [SPEAKER_03]: Like a movie.

[00:20:57] [SPEAKER_03]: It's a movie.

[00:20:58] [SPEAKER_01]: I would even say it holds together as a movie better than the Clone Wars movie.

[00:21:03] [SPEAKER_03]: It's definitively the best Star Wars movie.

[00:21:05] [SPEAKER_01]: No question.

[00:21:06] [SPEAKER_01]: I would agree.

[00:21:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Of the four Star Wars movies we've seen five because I also watched the Clone

[00:21:09] [SPEAKER_01]: Wars movie.

[00:21:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, God.

[00:21:11] [SPEAKER_01]: It is so far...

[00:21:12] [SPEAKER_01]: What happens in that one?

[00:21:13] [SPEAKER_01]: Well you know what's funny?

[00:21:14] [SPEAKER_01]: Because it was four episodes of a TV show something different happens every 22 minutes.

[00:21:21] [SPEAKER_03]: Does it end in any exciting way?

[00:21:23] [SPEAKER_03]: But is there an arc or some sort of...

[00:21:25] [SPEAKER_01]: There are mini arcs.

[00:21:26] [SPEAKER_01]: There are 22 minute arcs.

[00:21:28] [SPEAKER_01]: Jesus Christ.

[00:21:28] [SPEAKER_01]: An hour into the movie.

[00:21:30] [SPEAKER_01]: The movies I think an hour and a half.

[00:21:32] [SPEAKER_01]: Like 50 minutes in they established the major plot line because that was supposed

[00:21:36] [SPEAKER_01]: to be episode three.

[00:21:37] [SPEAKER_01]: That was a two-parter.

[00:21:38] [SPEAKER_01]: So like one plot line carries over from episode three to episode four.

[00:21:41] [SPEAKER_03]: I can't believe they released that in theater.

[00:21:44] [SPEAKER_03]: And then it made like 40 or 50 million dollars.

[00:21:47] [SPEAKER_03]: It made some money.

[00:21:49] [SPEAKER_01]: It wasn't a big hit.

[00:21:50] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think it made 30 or 40 which considering the amount of cost to do four episodes of a

[00:21:56] [SPEAKER_01]: TV show was successful.

[00:21:58] [SPEAKER_01]: And then they...

[00:21:59] [SPEAKER_01]: I have been trying to make my way...

[00:22:01] [SPEAKER_01]: Worldwide $68 million.

[00:22:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's been it.

[00:22:03] [SPEAKER_01]: It probably costs $5 million.

[00:22:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:22:06] [SPEAKER_01]: He also like announced...

[00:22:07] [SPEAKER_03]: It also has this horrid animation style that I really don't like.

[00:22:10] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that's what I don't like about it.

[00:22:11] [SPEAKER_01]: Well, it's a weird CG butchering of Tartakovsky's character.

[00:22:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Right.

[00:22:18] [SPEAKER_03]: It's got these lines to it.

[00:22:19] [SPEAKER_03]: But on CG it makes no sense.

[00:22:21] [SPEAKER_03]: All the beards look like they're made of plastic.

[00:22:23] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't like it at all.

[00:22:24] [SPEAKER_01]: They're very angular.

[00:22:25] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it looks kind of like...

[00:22:26] [SPEAKER_01]: You know what I really felt like watching it?

[00:22:28] [SPEAKER_01]: It reminded me a lot of Thunderbirds.

[00:22:31] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, sure.

[00:22:31] [SPEAKER_01]: They move really organically too.

[00:22:33] [SPEAKER_01]: Like they look like marionette puppets.

[00:22:34] [SPEAKER_01]: Right.

[00:22:35] [SPEAKER_03]: And when they fight, they're kind of like...

[00:22:38] [SPEAKER_03]: It is sort of puppet-like.

[00:22:39] [SPEAKER_01]: Before we get hate mail, I am very aware that the show gets better as it goes on.

[00:22:43] [SPEAKER_01]: I've heard this for many people.

[00:22:44] [SPEAKER_01]: I've been trying to make my way through it.

[00:22:45] [SPEAKER_03]: Screw those people.

[00:22:46] [SPEAKER_03]: Whatever.

[00:22:47] [SPEAKER_03]: Screw you.

[00:22:47] [SPEAKER_03]: They're 120 episodes.

[00:22:49] [SPEAKER_03]: You're really watching 120 episodes.

[00:22:51] [SPEAKER_03]: Screw you.

[00:22:52] [SPEAKER_03]: Very slowly.

[00:22:53] [SPEAKER_03]: Jesus.

[00:22:54] [SPEAKER_03]: I watched a bunch of lightsabers fights on YouTube once from that show.

[00:22:58] [SPEAKER_03]: Just a bunch of them.

[00:22:59] [SPEAKER_03]: Are they good on that show?

[00:23:00] [SPEAKER_03]: No, they're shitty.

[00:23:01] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, but...

[00:23:01] [SPEAKER_03]: I thought they sucked.

[00:23:02] [SPEAKER_01]: Let's get on something positive.

[00:23:03] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm so excited that for the first time in this show's history...

[00:23:06] [SPEAKER_01]: We have a great thing to talk about.

[00:23:07] [SPEAKER_01]: We have a great thing to talk about.

[00:23:07] [SPEAKER_03]: I really love this.

[00:23:08] [SPEAKER_03]: And it got me instantly, one minute, like, was all I needed.

[00:23:12] [SPEAKER_01]: It's...

[00:23:12] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, it's so good.

[00:23:13] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, immediate disclaimer.

[00:23:14] [SPEAKER_01]: I just need to throw this out.

[00:23:16] [SPEAKER_01]: I did have a slightly difficult time watching this, so you just keep this in mind while

[00:23:20] [SPEAKER_01]: I talk about it.

[00:23:21] [SPEAKER_01]: I had a very difficult time watching it because I kept on ejaculating onto my TV.

[00:23:26] [SPEAKER_01]: My TV was drenched in cum because this is the best fucking thing I've ever seen.

[00:23:30] [SPEAKER_01]: I love this thing so fucking much.

[00:23:34] [SPEAKER_01]: It actually functions as a movie even though it's not supposed to.

[00:23:37] [SPEAKER_01]: Even though it wasn't designed that way.

[00:23:39] [SPEAKER_01]: It's a little wonky in parts.

[00:23:41] [SPEAKER_01]: You can tell when they cut out their rhythms at times where it's like,

[00:23:45] [SPEAKER_01]: oh, this is clearly supposed to be the end of a short.

[00:23:48] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, very clearly because there's little cliffhangers.

[00:23:51] [SPEAKER_03]: But better than I would have thought.

[00:23:52] [SPEAKER_03]: I thought we were going to have real, like, the thing where it's almost like there's

[00:23:55] [SPEAKER_03]: a cliffhanger and then we open back up and see the action again for a second

[00:23:58] [SPEAKER_03]: before we get to the news.

[00:23:59] [SPEAKER_03]: You know what I mean?

[00:24:00] [SPEAKER_03]: No.

[00:24:01] [SPEAKER_01]: Each episode is kind of its own self-contained thing.

[00:24:04] [SPEAKER_01]: There is a sort of larger arc, but each episode is like a different story.

[00:24:07] [SPEAKER_01]: It's a different focus within this war.

[00:24:09] [SPEAKER_01]: And each one just functions as its own perfect little set piece.

[00:24:15] [SPEAKER_03]: Right.

[00:24:16] [SPEAKER_03]: First thing I want to say about this is that it actually makes me like the clones.

[00:24:20] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, me too.

[00:24:22] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:24:22] [SPEAKER_03]: And it establishes the relationship with the Jedi in a much clearer and more believable way than the movies.

[00:24:30] [SPEAKER_01]: Well, I just want to put a little structure on this.

[00:24:32] [SPEAKER_03]: There's a lot of clones in this movie.

[00:24:33] [SPEAKER_03]: A lot of clones.

[00:24:35] [SPEAKER_03]: There was an episode, maybe two with like the clones are like the main character.

[00:24:41] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yes.

[00:24:42] [SPEAKER_01]: I want to put a little structure on this.

[00:24:43] [SPEAKER_01]: So I have just the episode descriptions.

[00:24:45] [SPEAKER_01]: I want to go through them one by one, not that we're going to dwell on them each, but just to cover the basic like plot things.

[00:24:49] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay?

[00:24:50] [SPEAKER_01]: So we can go through this series narratively as it happens because they are kind of standalone.

[00:24:54] [SPEAKER_01]: So the first episode is just like setting the stage.

[00:24:57] [SPEAKER_01]: But God is it well done.

[00:24:58] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, Yoda gives us like 10 seconds of preamble.

[00:25:02] [SPEAKER_01]: That's the only appropriate response.

[00:25:03] [SPEAKER_01]: It's just immediately you're like, yeah.

[00:25:05] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:25:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Uh-huh.

[00:25:06] [SPEAKER_01]: It's like this is what that Skrull should have been.

[00:25:09] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes.

[00:25:09] [SPEAKER_01]: What's with this weird, or this is what all three movies should have been?

[00:25:15] [SPEAKER_03]: What if this was the first movie?

[00:25:16] [SPEAKER_03]: Can you imagine if this was the first movie?

[00:25:20] [SPEAKER_03]: Like that is where it should have began.

[00:25:22] [SPEAKER_03]: What if the first movie was 20 minutes of finding young Anakin at a pod race and then you jumped to this?

[00:25:29] [SPEAKER_03]: Forget everything else.

[00:25:31] [SPEAKER_01]: Here's my stronger argument.

[00:25:32] [SPEAKER_01]: What were you going to say?

[00:25:33] [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, why do you even need the pod?

[00:25:34] [SPEAKER_04]: Like here's the thing.

[00:25:35] [SPEAKER_04]: I'm with you guys.

[00:25:36] [SPEAKER_04]: I like the pod race.

[00:25:37] [SPEAKER_03]: I actually like the pod race.

[00:25:40] [SPEAKER_03]: You like our podcast.

[00:25:41] [SPEAKER_03]: I like your podcast.

[00:25:42] [SPEAKER_03]: Thank you so much.

[00:25:43] [SPEAKER_03]: I like your podcast and I like the pod race.

[00:25:45] [SPEAKER_03]: Very cool.

[00:25:46] [SPEAKER_03]: That being said, it's one of those things.

[00:25:48] [SPEAKER_03]: It's the same thing for like the beginning.

[00:25:50] [SPEAKER_03]: That first battle scene in the Revenge of the Sith, like the rescue.

[00:25:55] [SPEAKER_03]: The video game scene.

[00:25:56] [SPEAKER_03]: You know that scene was 23 minutes long?

[00:25:58] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:25:59] [SPEAKER_04]: 23 minutes.

[00:25:59] [SPEAKER_01]: That's insane.

[00:26:00] [SPEAKER_01]: It really has nothing to do with the rest of the movie.

[00:26:02] [SPEAKER_01]: That's the length of a full episode of the CGI Clone Wars.

[00:26:05] [SPEAKER_04]: It's so long.

[00:26:06] [SPEAKER_01]: There's all that business with the elevators and the movies.

[00:26:08] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, it's so much unnecessary.

[00:26:10] [SPEAKER_04]: And it's like, yeah, this is cool, but this has nothing to do with your movie.

[00:26:14] [SPEAKER_04]: That's what the pod race.

[00:26:16] [SPEAKER_01]: This...

[00:26:16] [SPEAKER_01]: Well, I agree with that.

[00:26:17] [SPEAKER_04]: It's just better.

[00:26:18] [SPEAKER_01]: It's so well done.

[00:26:19] [SPEAKER_01]: It's so well done that I excuse it.

[00:26:21] [SPEAKER_01]: Like if everything in the movie was that fun.

[00:26:24] [SPEAKER_03]: But I'm just saying like if you just want to, you need to plant that seed that

[00:26:26] [SPEAKER_03]: Anakin was this kid plucked out.

[00:26:28] [SPEAKER_03]: Kind of, you know, like then fine.

[00:26:30] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm just saying.

[00:26:31] [SPEAKER_01]: Because Anakin in this...

[00:26:34] [SPEAKER_01]: I would make this episode too.

[00:26:35] [SPEAKER_01]: That's what I would do.

[00:26:37] [SPEAKER_01]: Because this is the one that actually shows Anakin's arc of how he becomes a Jedi

[00:26:41] [SPEAKER_01]: in a fleshed out way, I would argue.

[00:26:44] [SPEAKER_01]: This is him like coming to terms with all of what's inside.

[00:26:46] [SPEAKER_03]: Can I say something even though it's jumping ahead?

[00:26:48] [SPEAKER_03]: Anakin has 10 times better chemistry with Amidala.

[00:26:52] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh yes.

[00:26:53] [SPEAKER_03]: And he doesn't realize.

[00:26:53] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so this is not jumping ahead.

[00:26:55] [SPEAKER_01]: Episode one.

[00:26:55] [SPEAKER_01]: So you see Yoda gives like the sort of speech.

[00:26:58] [SPEAKER_01]: Everyone's preparing for battle.

[00:26:59] [SPEAKER_01]: He's got the Clone Wars hat.

[00:27:01] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's the spreads across the galaxy like a wildfire or something.

[00:27:05] [SPEAKER_01]: You see all the ships preparing for battle.

[00:27:07] [SPEAKER_01]: And then there's like this beautiful shot where like the smoke clears

[00:27:10] [SPEAKER_01]: and Anakin's on like a landing strip.

[00:27:12] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:27:13] [SPEAKER_01]: He throws off his cape and he gets into his little speeder

[00:27:17] [SPEAKER_01]: and he's got like a droid on his back.

[00:27:19] [SPEAKER_01]: And then he looks out the window of his speeder

[00:27:21] [SPEAKER_01]: and there's Padme like standing at the balcony.

[00:27:24] [SPEAKER_03]: Looking good.

[00:27:24] [SPEAKER_03]: Looking great.

[00:27:26] [SPEAKER_03]: Real good.

[00:27:27] [SPEAKER_03]: Looking real good.

[00:27:27] [SPEAKER_01]: Let's just say that she's looking real good.

[00:27:29] [SPEAKER_03]: That animated character is looking real good.

[00:27:32] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm with it, yeah.

[00:27:35] [SPEAKER_01]: And they like share this look that says more than any dialogue

[00:27:41] [SPEAKER_01]: between the two of them in three films has.

[00:27:43] [SPEAKER_01]: More than their, yeah.

[00:27:44] [SPEAKER_01]: Their entire relationship.

[00:27:46] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:27:46] [SPEAKER_01]: That because their love is a secret she can't be out there

[00:27:49] [SPEAKER_01]: saying goodbye that she has to do it from a distance.

[00:27:51] [SPEAKER_01]: That she's afraid.

[00:27:53] [SPEAKER_01]: Afraid not only for him but a little of him.

[00:27:56] [SPEAKER_01]: What will become of him put into this sort of circumstance.

[00:28:00] [SPEAKER_01]: His sort of stoicism is steely focus is obsessive slightly frightening determination.

[00:28:06] [SPEAKER_03]: Little, yeah.

[00:28:06] [SPEAKER_03]: Little little arrogance.

[00:28:07] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:28:08] [SPEAKER_01]: Little that cocky bravado because he's got a slightly unemotional response

[00:28:11] [SPEAKER_01]: that you can see a tinge of it.

[00:28:12] [SPEAKER_01]: This is all done with like a matter of lines.

[00:28:14] [SPEAKER_01]: Like this is very simple clean character design.

[00:28:18] [SPEAKER_01]: It's not super detailed.

[00:28:20] [SPEAKER_03]: No.

[00:28:20] [SPEAKER_03]: It's very like line oriented.

[00:28:22] [SPEAKER_01]: Very line oriented.

[00:28:23] [SPEAKER_01]: It looks like like classic like like Japanese like ink paintings almost.

[00:28:28] [SPEAKER_01]: It's like amazing.

[00:28:30] [SPEAKER_01]: And it's also because I've talked so much about what I like about hotel Transylvania

[00:28:35] [SPEAKER_01]: on this podcast.

[00:28:36] [SPEAKER_01]: This is stylistically at a totally polar end of the spectrum here opposite end

[00:28:43] [SPEAKER_01]: without getting too much into like animation nerdy

[00:28:46] [SPEAKER_01]: but hotel Transylvania is him pushing everything and making everything as like overly animated.

[00:28:50] [SPEAKER_03]: And it's all like blobs and sort of pushing and the squash and stretching and all of that.

[00:28:55] [SPEAKER_01]: And this falls into what is like, you know, basically called limited animation

[00:29:00] [SPEAKER_01]: and that it's like a focus on strong poses.

[00:29:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Right.

[00:29:04] [SPEAKER_01]: And there's not a lot of in between.

[00:29:06] [SPEAKER_01]: They move from one strong pose to another pose.

[00:29:07] [SPEAKER_01]: It's not fluid necessarily.

[00:29:09] [SPEAKER_01]: It's sort of like a kendo or whatever.

[00:29:11] [SPEAKER_01]: It's like right.

[00:29:12] [SPEAKER_01]: Which Samurai Jack did too.

[00:29:13] [SPEAKER_01]: But it puts for something like this that is action based.

[00:29:17] [SPEAKER_01]: That's about like people existing in space and time around each other.

[00:29:21] [SPEAKER_03]: And it's very fantastical like elements of what Star Wars is, you know,

[00:29:26] [SPEAKER_03]: Jedi's being like these like magical.

[00:29:30] [SPEAKER_03]: Well, I was guessing it's almost a problem because the Jedi's are so powerful in this.

[00:29:35] [SPEAKER_03]: There's so powerful.

[00:29:35] [SPEAKER_03]: We used to talk about that a little bit.

[00:29:37] [SPEAKER_03]: In the range of the Sith, they get like shot in the knee and they die.

[00:29:39] [SPEAKER_01]: But I think a lot of that too is like the animation style is because he uses

[00:29:44] [SPEAKER_01]: the limited animation, which I do not use in a derogatory term.

[00:29:47] [SPEAKER_01]: No, yeah.

[00:29:48] [SPEAKER_01]: In a very like conscious stylistic way so that they just move from one strong pose

[00:29:53] [SPEAKER_01]: into another and you're like God, these guys are fucking warriors

[00:29:56] [SPEAKER_01]: because they don't misstep by a hair.

[00:29:58] [SPEAKER_03]: To be fair to the animated series, that's how the Jedi's are talked about.

[00:30:03] [SPEAKER_03]: Yes.

[00:30:03] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it's not supposed to be like people keep saying like, oh my God,

[00:30:05] [SPEAKER_03]: the Jedi's are here.

[00:30:06] [SPEAKER_03]: It's like it's just a myth.

[00:30:07] [SPEAKER_03]: And it's how they sometimes are except when conveniently they aren't.

[00:30:12] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:30:12] [SPEAKER_03]: To service something like an arm getting chopped off or getting shot in the back.

[00:30:17] [SPEAKER_01]: So episode one is mostly had me saying goodbye to Ange.

[00:30:20] [SPEAKER_03]: Obi-Wan literally catches laser beams in his hand in this show.

[00:30:24] [SPEAKER_01]: That was why I really, I was like, come on!

[00:30:27] [SPEAKER_01]: There's some cool show.

[00:30:28] [SPEAKER_01]: Episode two is the one that's like all Clone Troopers.

[00:30:31] [SPEAKER_01]: So it opens up and it's just Clone Troopers.

[00:30:33] [SPEAKER_01]: And you're just watching how war exists in this gap

[00:30:36] [SPEAKER_01]: and how they function.

[00:30:37] [SPEAKER_01]: The toll of it.

[00:30:38] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, yeah.

[00:30:39] [SPEAKER_03]: It was like waves of people being thrown at this.

[00:30:42] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, this is like almost entirely silent this episode.

[00:30:45] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, which is great.

[00:30:46] [SPEAKER_01]: That's another thing that's hand gesture.

[00:30:48] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's a lot of like signals for where to go.

[00:30:51] [SPEAKER_01]: It's like there's this one sort of like Commander Clone Trooper with red.

[00:30:57] [SPEAKER_01]: It's not Commander Cody because he comes in later.

[00:30:59] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:30:59] [SPEAKER_01]: But he's like the Arch Commander.

[00:31:01] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:31:01] [SPEAKER_01]: And he's got like red lines on his armor

[00:31:03] [SPEAKER_01]: and it's him leading like a whole squadron.

[00:31:06] [SPEAKER_01]: And there's a lot of silence where they're just like standing in a corridor

[00:31:08] [SPEAKER_01]: and he's giving hand gestures and then you hear like

[00:31:11] [SPEAKER_01]: And then like a ball droid comes in.

[00:31:14] [SPEAKER_01]: Like he uses silence really well.

[00:31:16] [SPEAKER_01]: He uses space really well.

[00:31:18] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it's interesting too because I would say

[00:31:22] [SPEAKER_03]: they simultaneously make the droids fearsome.

[00:31:27] [SPEAKER_03]: Which they're more scary.

[00:31:29] [SPEAKER_03]: Which they're not in any of the Star Wars movies.

[00:31:31] [SPEAKER_03]: It helps that they're often in like, wait, there's so many of them.

[00:31:35] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, there's so many of them.

[00:31:36] [SPEAKER_03]: And then they all, but they also show why the Clone Trooper,

[00:31:40] [SPEAKER_03]: the clone, the, they're, that why they are so much more powerful than the droids.

[00:31:45] [SPEAKER_03]: Because they're just so much more.

[00:31:45] [SPEAKER_03]: They're just so much smarter.

[00:31:46] [SPEAKER_03]: Right, yeah.

[00:31:47] [SPEAKER_03]: They're smarter without having to make the droids just dumb.

[00:31:50] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, no, you just see the, yeah, of course.

[00:31:52] [SPEAKER_01]: Well, and that it's the humanity that helps them.

[00:31:54] [SPEAKER_01]: That the droids are just following programming.

[00:31:56] [SPEAKER_01]: Right.

[00:31:56] [SPEAKER_01]: And the Clone Troopers can like adapt to their surroundings.

[00:31:59] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:32:01] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and George, George Deporgy is always saying like,

[00:32:03] [SPEAKER_01]: well, don't focus on the dialogue.

[00:32:05] [SPEAKER_01]: These are meant to be silent films.

[00:32:06] [SPEAKER_01]: It's like then fucking do what Tartakowsky is doing.

[00:32:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Now I want to point out Tartakowsky is credited as director

[00:32:12] [SPEAKER_01]: on every one of these episodes.

[00:32:14] [SPEAKER_01]: This is his baby.

[00:32:15] [SPEAKER_01]: Right.

[00:32:15] [SPEAKER_01]: George Lucas is also credited as writer on the whole series.

[00:32:19] [SPEAKER_01]: I think that he just gave him a very rough outline.

[00:32:22] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:32:23] [SPEAKER_01]: I think he said, hey, if you're doing it in a short format

[00:32:25] [SPEAKER_01]: because there's so little dialogue and the beats of it

[00:32:28] [SPEAKER_01]: feel so Tartakowsky.

[00:32:29] [SPEAKER_03]: Well, Wikipedia says he didn't write it.

[00:32:32] [SPEAKER_03]: Great.

[00:32:32] [SPEAKER_03]: He created it.

[00:32:33] [SPEAKER_03]: You know, he gets a creator credit.

[00:32:34] [SPEAKER_03]: It makes sense why he got a writing credit though

[00:32:36] [SPEAKER_03]: because it very much leaves off from where the second movie does

[00:32:40] [SPEAKER_03]: and picks up almost exactly with...

[00:32:44] [SPEAKER_03]: Mm-hmm.

[00:32:44] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:32:45] [SPEAKER_03]: He gave a sort of, I'm sure he gave a broad arc

[00:32:46] [SPEAKER_03]: he wanted it.

[00:32:47] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, to follow.

[00:32:48] [SPEAKER_03]: So the writers credited on Wikipedia, Brian Andrews,

[00:32:53] [SPEAKER_03]: Derek, Bachman, Paul Rudisch, and Jenny Tartakowsky.

[00:32:58] [SPEAKER_01]: Hey, Griffin.

[00:32:59] [SPEAKER_01]: How you doing?

[00:32:59] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm doing well.

[00:33:00] [SPEAKER_01]: I got the episodes next up.

[00:33:01] [SPEAKER_01]: Episode three is the one that's all Clone Troopers.

[00:33:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Episode two is the one.

[00:33:05] [SPEAKER_01]: Obi-Wan's Troopers are shot down.

[00:33:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, it's Obi-Wan fighting with them.

[00:33:08] [SPEAKER_01]: Look, these things all flow into each other.

[00:33:09] [SPEAKER_01]: This does.

[00:33:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Episode two just to flip back has this amazing moment

[00:33:13] [SPEAKER_01]: where you see all the Clone Troopers coming in.

[00:33:15] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:33:16] [SPEAKER_01]: And one of them is wearing a robe.

[00:33:18] [SPEAKER_01]: And you're like, what's up with this guy?

[00:33:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and then it's Obi-Wan.

[00:33:20] [SPEAKER_01]: And then the robots are coming in and shooting

[00:33:22] [SPEAKER_01]: and then you see a helmet fly off

[00:33:24] [SPEAKER_01]: and you're like, oh did that guy get to capitate it?

[00:33:26] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:33:26] [SPEAKER_01]: No, turn around.

[00:33:27] [SPEAKER_01]: It's Obi-Wan in fucking Clone Armor.

[00:33:30] [SPEAKER_01]: He looks good.

[00:33:31] [SPEAKER_01]: They call him General Kenobi.

[00:33:32] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:33:32] [SPEAKER_01]: He's like leading the squad.

[00:33:34] [SPEAKER_01]: And for the first time you're like, oh Obi-Wan rules.

[00:33:37] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I know.

[00:33:38] [SPEAKER_03]: He's sort of sad that he doesn't get to rule so much.

[00:33:40] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:33:42] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mean the broad structure of the show is like

[00:33:44] [SPEAKER_03]: we kind of have like an Obi-Wan planet and mission

[00:33:46] [SPEAKER_03]: and there's an Anakin thing and there's an Windu thing.

[00:33:49] [SPEAKER_03]: So Anakin's in the sky.

[00:33:51] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:33:51] [SPEAKER_03]: And he's still a padawan.

[00:33:53] [SPEAKER_03]: He's still got his brain.

[00:33:54] [SPEAKER_03]: Still a padawan.

[00:33:54] [SPEAKER_03]: And he's leading the, like, I guess the air attack on this planet.

[00:34:00] [SPEAKER_03]: It's cool.

[00:34:00] [SPEAKER_03]: And we're seeing him be like the craziest pilot ever.

[00:34:03] [SPEAKER_04]: That's the amazing pilot that people keep talking about.

[00:34:07] [SPEAKER_03]: They talk about it all the time.

[00:34:07] [SPEAKER_03]: And then we see, I guess for a brief moment in episode three.

[00:34:11] [SPEAKER_03]: Hit the center eye or stuff like he doesn't do anything.

[00:34:13] [SPEAKER_03]: But like, and then that's it.

[00:34:14] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:34:14] [SPEAKER_01]: I feel like there's going to be a lot of repetition in this episode.

[00:34:17] [SPEAKER_01]: But like, this series shows us every single thing

[00:34:21] [SPEAKER_01]: we needed to actually buy the things that the other three movies do.

[00:34:25] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I wish I'd seen it before I saw episode three.

[00:34:27] [SPEAKER_03]: I did.

[00:34:27] [SPEAKER_03]: And it made episode three better.

[00:34:29] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:34:29] [SPEAKER_01]: Like it even retroactively makes all of them better than mine.

[00:34:33] [SPEAKER_01]: It really does.

[00:34:33] [SPEAKER_01]: And all that shit where we like would look at a Wikipedia entry

[00:34:36] [SPEAKER_01]: and be like, why isn't that in the movie?

[00:34:38] [SPEAKER_01]: This like so effortlessly with like 30 seconds of silent movie.

[00:34:42] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it does it quickly.

[00:34:43] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:34:43] [SPEAKER_01]: Episode four we have to talk about.

[00:34:46] [SPEAKER_01]: Chapter four as they're called.

[00:34:47] [SPEAKER_01]: And the chapter four.

[00:34:48] [SPEAKER_01]: Chapter four, Kifista.

[00:34:50] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes.

[00:34:50] [SPEAKER_03]: And it is, it's right off the bat and it's Kifisto with a big smile.

[00:34:55] [SPEAKER_01]: Like the first three episodes we're just dealing with our main heroes.

[00:34:57] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, yeah.

[00:34:58] [SPEAKER_01]: Who's the first guy we're taking off the bench?

[00:35:00] [SPEAKER_01]: Fisto.

[00:35:00] [SPEAKER_03]: And it's on Mon Calamari.

[00:35:02] [SPEAKER_03]: I think we talked about it with Chris.

[00:35:04] [SPEAKER_01]: He goes underwater.

[00:35:04] [SPEAKER_03]: He rips off his clothes.

[00:35:07] [SPEAKER_03]: Rips him off.

[00:35:08] [SPEAKER_03]: Rips him off.

[00:35:08] [SPEAKER_03]: With a big grin.

[00:35:09] [SPEAKER_02]: Shirtless.

[00:35:09] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, dives in the water.

[00:35:10] [SPEAKER_02]: You guys liked that?

[00:35:12] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:35:12] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh yeah.

[00:35:13] [SPEAKER_02]: What?

[00:35:13] [SPEAKER_04]: That's so lame.

[00:35:14] [SPEAKER_02]: You're lame.

[00:35:15] [SPEAKER_04]: Wait you like this series and you don't like the Kifisto episode?

[00:35:18] [SPEAKER_02]: Kifisto's lame.

[00:35:19] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh fuck you.

[00:35:20] [SPEAKER_03]: Are we shots fired?

[00:35:21] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I'm calling it out.

[00:35:23] [SPEAKER_02]: Okay, because like if you think about Aquaman he's the worst character.

[00:35:27] [SPEAKER_02]: Why do I want to see a fight in the sea?

[00:35:30] [SPEAKER_02]: I like Aquaman.

[00:35:30] [SPEAKER_02]: Kifisto has a light sea.

[00:35:32] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, Kifisto's got ten of us.

[00:35:33] [SPEAKER_02]: That's bullshit.

[00:35:34] [SPEAKER_02]: Underwater.

[00:35:35] [SPEAKER_02]: I want to see space fighting.

[00:35:36] [SPEAKER_02]: I want to see some fucking...

[00:35:38] [SPEAKER_03]: So did you like the pilot stuff though?

[00:35:40] [SPEAKER_03]: Like the weird loop-de-loops and all that cool shit?

[00:35:42] [SPEAKER_03]: Of course.

[00:35:43] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that's stuff cool.

[00:35:44] [SPEAKER_02]: If I'm watching Star Wars I want to see some space fighting.

[00:35:47] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't want to see some underwater bullshit.

[00:35:49] [SPEAKER_02]: So you just hate water?

[00:35:50] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I don't know how to do it.

[00:35:51] [SPEAKER_01]: Do you like swimming Ben?

[00:35:53] [SPEAKER_02]: I actually love swimming.

[00:35:54] [SPEAKER_02]: Me too.

[00:35:55] [SPEAKER_01]: Did you like the snorks?

[00:35:57] [SPEAKER_02]: What are snorks?

[00:35:58] [SPEAKER_01]: They were like the smurfs but they were underwater.

[00:36:01] [SPEAKER_01]: It was like a Hannah Barbera.

[00:36:02] [SPEAKER_01]: No.

[00:36:02] [SPEAKER_01]: No?

[00:36:03] [SPEAKER_01]: I haven't seen it but I'm going to say no.

[00:36:05] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay Ben, I think this is a good time to do a little sidebar.

[00:36:08] [SPEAKER_01]: What's up?

[00:36:08] [SPEAKER_01]: Last week you were shit talking Kifisto at the end of the episode when David and

[00:36:13] [SPEAKER_01]: Gether were talking about stupid basketball.

[00:36:15] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, I recall.

[00:36:16] [SPEAKER_01]: And you said that you thought he was stupid and you said I think I could make up a

[00:36:19] [SPEAKER_01]: better character to Kifisto and I said I challenge you and you today have

[00:36:22] [SPEAKER_01]: prepared several characters.

[00:36:24] [SPEAKER_01]: You told me that not just one, Ben's character spotlight.

[00:36:28] [SPEAKER_01]: These are producer Ben's original Star Wars characters that he's going to

[00:36:31] [SPEAKER_01]: present for us right now.

[00:36:32] [SPEAKER_02]: Not Kifisto out of the park.

[00:36:35] [SPEAKER_02]: Okay, sure.

[00:36:36] [SPEAKER_02]: Here we go.

[00:36:37] [SPEAKER_02]: Where to start?

[00:36:38] [SPEAKER_02]: Anywhere.

[00:36:39] [SPEAKER_02]: Literally anywhere.

[00:36:40] [SPEAKER_03]: For a second I thought you named a Jedi where to start.

[00:36:43] [SPEAKER_03]: I would believe that.

[00:36:45] [SPEAKER_03]: Where to start?

[00:36:46] [SPEAKER_02]: Okay, first character.

[00:36:48] [SPEAKER_02]: His name is Bat Pecky.

[00:36:50] [SPEAKER_02]: Okay, alright.

[00:36:52] [SPEAKER_02]: Bat Pecky.

[00:36:52] [SPEAKER_02]: He's from the cave planet called Kregon.

[00:36:55] [SPEAKER_02]: I hate this already.

[00:36:56] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.

[00:36:57] [SPEAKER_02]: I like the cave planet.

[00:36:59] [SPEAKER_02]: Guys he's a Batman.

[00:37:01] [SPEAKER_03]: Why?

[00:37:02] [SPEAKER_02]: Okay go on.

[00:37:03] [SPEAKER_02]: Sonar hearing.

[00:37:04] [SPEAKER_03]: Well you're really against him.

[00:37:07] [SPEAKER_02]: Braylock hates him.

[00:37:08] [SPEAKER_02]: Why?

[00:37:09] [SPEAKER_02]: You can fly around.

[00:37:10] [SPEAKER_02]: He's got white skin.

[00:37:13] [SPEAKER_02]: His parents are dead.

[00:37:15] [SPEAKER_02]: Alright so he's just Batman.

[00:37:16] [SPEAKER_03]: No, it's just a different villain.

[00:37:19] [SPEAKER_03]: Batman.

[00:37:20] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah this sounds from Batman.

[00:37:21] [SPEAKER_03]: You mean Manbat?

[00:37:22] [SPEAKER_03]: Manbat.

[00:37:23] [SPEAKER_03]: You're talking about Manbat.

[00:37:24] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm talking about Manbat.

[00:37:25] [SPEAKER_01]: So this sounds like Manbat with Batman's backstory.

[00:37:28] [SPEAKER_03]: I want to point something out to you Gryffin by the way.

[00:37:30] [SPEAKER_03]: It's chapter five is Kifisto.

[00:37:31] [SPEAKER_03]: Chapter four, you're off episode duty.

[00:37:33] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm on Wikipedia.

[00:37:34] [SPEAKER_03]: Well fuck you.

[00:37:35] [SPEAKER_03]: Is this from the off?

[00:37:36] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm on Wikipedia.

[00:37:38] [SPEAKER_03]: The definitive source.

[00:37:39] [SPEAKER_03]: Okay.

[00:37:39] [SPEAKER_03]: Chapter four is the one with that weird robot who's like made of

[00:37:42] [SPEAKER_03]: these are flips in my thing but whatever.

[00:37:44] [SPEAKER_03]: Well these are very important things.

[00:37:45] [SPEAKER_03]: Ben's character spotlight.

[00:37:46] [SPEAKER_03]: Everybody cares about this.

[00:37:47] [SPEAKER_02]: Alright second we got Alogashu.

[00:37:49] [SPEAKER_02]: That's a pretty good name.

[00:37:50] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah I actually like that.

[00:37:53] [SPEAKER_02]: Alright he's a fucking huge Jedi.

[00:37:56] [SPEAKER_02]: Tired of this small bullshit.

[00:37:58] [SPEAKER_02]: I like that, I like that.

[00:37:58] [SPEAKER_02]: Alright.

[00:37:59] [SPEAKER_02]: You know what's his species?

[00:38:01] [SPEAKER_02]: Wow.

[00:38:01] [SPEAKER_02]: He's big.

[00:38:02] [SPEAKER_02]: He's a big Jedi.

[00:38:03] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm tired of these small Jedi's.

[00:38:07] [SPEAKER_02]: Attached to him is a

[00:38:08] [SPEAKER_02]: Quado like conjoined twin.

[00:38:11] [SPEAKER_02]: Twin named Frank.

[00:38:12] [SPEAKER_01]: So like from total recall he's got like a tumor baby in his chest.

[00:38:17] [SPEAKER_02]: Big guy is brawn little do smart.

[00:38:20] [SPEAKER_02]: His name's Dink?

[00:38:21] [SPEAKER_02]: What's his name?

[00:38:22] [SPEAKER_02]: Frank.

[00:38:22] [SPEAKER_02]: Frank.

[00:38:23] [SPEAKER_02]: Frank.

[00:38:24] [SPEAKER_03]: Okay.

[00:38:25] [SPEAKER_01]: Alogashu.

[00:38:26] [SPEAKER_03]: Alogashu.

[00:38:27] [SPEAKER_03]: Can he do like any cool things?

[00:38:29] [SPEAKER_03]: He's huge.

[00:38:30] [SPEAKER_03]: Cause Kifisto can swim and he can breathe underwater.

[00:38:35] [SPEAKER_03]: He can smell emotions.

[00:38:36] [SPEAKER_03]: He can throw like force bubbles that can blow ships up.

[00:38:41] [SPEAKER_01]: He makes a Kifisto in episode four or five depending on what source you're going off of.

[00:38:45] [SPEAKER_01]: Makes a force bubble.

[00:38:47] [SPEAKER_03]: A force bubble.

[00:38:48] [SPEAKER_01]: And then throws at him and blows shit up.

[00:38:51] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know he claps and it's like really loud.

[00:38:57] [SPEAKER_01]: And they're like knock people away.

[00:39:00] [SPEAKER_01]: So Alogashu has an unformed twin coming off of his body.

[00:39:05] [SPEAKER_01]: And he speaks in the bigger ones ear.

[00:39:07] [SPEAKER_01]: It's like clap really loud now.

[00:39:08] [SPEAKER_01]: Can he reach the ear?

[00:39:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Where is he located on the floor?

[00:39:12] [SPEAKER_02]: I think he's like on the shoulder.

[00:39:14] [SPEAKER_01]: So he literally just whispers in the ear.

[00:39:17] [SPEAKER_02]: He does all the talking.

[00:39:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay.

[00:39:20] [SPEAKER_01]: Alogashu.

[00:39:20] [SPEAKER_01]: And you have one more?

[00:39:22] [SPEAKER_02]: Yes.

[00:39:22] [SPEAKER_02]: Darth stupid idiot.

[00:39:25] [SPEAKER_02]: And he's a fucking jerk.

[00:39:30] [SPEAKER_02]: He's always wet and tired.

[00:39:33] [SPEAKER_01]: He's always wet and tired.

[00:39:34] [SPEAKER_01]: Why is he wet?

[00:39:35] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know it's just kind of like I was thinking of like the coughing thing.

[00:39:39] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah like Grievous is coughing.

[00:39:41] [SPEAKER_02]: This is his that he's just like.

[00:39:42] [SPEAKER_02]: Can't wait to talk about that.

[00:39:43] [SPEAKER_02]: He's always wet.

[00:39:45] [SPEAKER_02]: He's always tired.

[00:39:47] [SPEAKER_02]: And he has a lightsaber that's a prolapse Venus.

[00:39:51] [SPEAKER_02]: With that I feel like we need to return.

[00:39:54] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah we have to return.

[00:39:55] [SPEAKER_01]: I think that was pretty solid.

[00:39:57] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah it's pretty solid.

[00:39:59] [SPEAKER_01]: I gotta say too when Ben said that he prepared characters before he started recording

[00:40:03] [SPEAKER_01]: I said I bet one of these is gonna be named Darth Bullshit.

[00:40:05] [SPEAKER_01]: I was pretty close.

[00:40:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah you were.

[00:40:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Darth Bullshit and Darth Stupid Idiot aren't too far away from each other.

[00:40:11] [SPEAKER_03]: The essence of it is exactly the same.

[00:40:12] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay let's not be sticklers for the order because it seems like different sites are part of a different order.

[00:40:17] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm just like my Wikipedia order right here.

[00:40:20] [SPEAKER_03]: I've got a chapter four is the one with Dirge.

[00:40:22] [SPEAKER_03]: Okay Dirge rolls.

[00:40:23] [SPEAKER_03]: So wait Dirge is the bad guy that's yeah he's like made of muscles.

[00:40:27] [SPEAKER_03]: Made of weird stuff.

[00:40:27] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah made of like tentacle muscles.

[00:40:29] [SPEAKER_03]: So great bad guy though.

[00:40:30] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh yeah.

[00:40:30] [SPEAKER_01]: At first he's just blue armor.

[00:40:33] [SPEAKER_01]: He's got sort of like this Roman kind of armor.

[00:40:35] [SPEAKER_01]: You don't see his face there are these slits for the eyes but they're dark.

[00:40:39] [SPEAKER_01]: And he's got the clans.

[00:40:41] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:40:41] [SPEAKER_01]: But like Dooku oh he looks almost like like sort of like a black knight from like like a medieval.

[00:40:46] [SPEAKER_01]: Sure sure.

[00:40:47] [SPEAKER_01]: Fantasy.

[00:40:48] [SPEAKER_01]: And he's got this army of lesser knights with him.

[00:40:50] [SPEAKER_01]: Totally faceless mask.

[00:40:52] [SPEAKER_01]: He's got a huge chest.

[00:40:54] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:40:54] [SPEAKER_01]: And like he is kind of to Ben size specifications for the story.

[00:40:58] [SPEAKER_01]: He's huge.

[00:40:59] [SPEAKER_01]: He's a big guy.

[00:41:00] [SPEAKER_01]: He's a big guy.

[00:41:01] [SPEAKER_01]: Dooku orders him.

[00:41:02] [SPEAKER_01]: He's like I know who we need to get to like find this Anakin kit.

[00:41:06] [SPEAKER_01]: And oh because very early on.

[00:41:08] [SPEAKER_03]: No he's on the planet with Sandhill and his introduction is great.

[00:41:12] [SPEAKER_03]: I love it because Sandhill they're just like what are you going to do.

[00:41:14] [SPEAKER_03]: And he just chokes Sandhill.

[00:41:17] [SPEAKER_03]: He's like I'm sorry I said anything.

[00:41:18] [SPEAKER_03]: Sandhill looks great this thing.

[00:41:20] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah Sandhill is the sort of whatever it doesn't matter.

[00:41:23] [SPEAKER_03]: People know who he is or they don't.

[00:41:25] [SPEAKER_01]: It is important to mention the most people don't.

[00:41:26] [SPEAKER_01]: And that's fine.

[00:41:28] [SPEAKER_01]: The one thing we forgot to mention about the first chapter is there is a scene with Palpatine where he's like really showing a focus on Anakin.

[00:41:36] [SPEAKER_01]: Like they laid those seeds very well.

[00:41:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes.

[00:41:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Where he's just like I think Anakin should certainly be fighting alongside the war.

[00:41:42] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes.

[00:41:42] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay so Sandhill.

[00:41:44] [SPEAKER_03]: She thinks that Anakin should be leading his own Italian.

[00:41:48] [SPEAKER_03]: Yes.

[00:41:48] [SPEAKER_03]: And so when he does it that's the first time you see Anakin be like I don't like the council.

[00:41:54] [SPEAKER_01]: And there's the moment where like yeah awesome.

[00:41:59] [SPEAKER_01]: Dirk comes in he's got this blue armor he's got a lance.

[00:42:03] [SPEAKER_01]: A lance.

[00:42:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Going around fucking.

[00:42:04] [SPEAKER_04]: They all have lances.

[00:42:05] [SPEAKER_04]: This whole episode is just.

[00:42:07] [SPEAKER_04]: It's just like speeders and they have lances.

[00:42:10] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah we should just blow.

[00:42:11] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm going to keep us I feel like we should spend about a minute on each of these or else we're going to lose our minds.

[00:42:16] [SPEAKER_03]: And then yeah after that is Kit Fisto just being a badass.

[00:42:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Squid people lobster people making forest bubbles underwater shirtless.

[00:42:23] [SPEAKER_03]: Completely insane.

[00:42:24] [SPEAKER_03]: Dude is cut.

[00:42:25] [SPEAKER_03]: What I like about it I want to say is like there's no explanation who the calamari who the enemies doesn't matter.

[00:42:30] [SPEAKER_03]: It doesn't matter.

[00:42:31] [SPEAKER_03]: No it's all very miserable.

[00:42:32] [SPEAKER_03]: It's a part of the war it's a part of like all the other systems that they're talking about you're just like oh here are the good guys here are the bad guys I don't know what's going on it's crazy.

[00:42:39] [SPEAKER_01]: Guess what George we don't need explanation for these things.

[00:42:43] [SPEAKER_04]: If you're making a show it space battles show don't tell and don't show just a little scene at the end of the movie with like 20 second clips of like Jedi just being randomly killed and you're like who are these people.

[00:42:55] [SPEAKER_04]: I've never seen them once before I've seen them once in a room where they are sitting down a chair.

[00:43:00] [SPEAKER_03]: It's very true.

[00:43:01] [SPEAKER_03]: Can you at least show up if you at least did that earlier reason I like this guy yeah where they did something courageous and then show them it killed I would be like oh man with it 100.

[00:43:10] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh my God.

[00:43:12] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm so mad at so fucking good chapter six is one of is actually what hooked me in the most which is the gladiator battle with a Saajj Ventress.

[00:43:22] [SPEAKER_03]: Okay.

[00:43:22] [SPEAKER_03]: He's just watching some monsters.

[00:43:24] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh my God.

[00:43:25] [SPEAKER_01]: And then he's like oh I know you're there and she like appears out of nowhere but it's so much better than the arena battle and clones cave and it's like these people are like have been captured and are now like slaves and they're all chained up to giant boulder.

[00:43:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:43:38] [SPEAKER_01]: And he's like a monster and he's terrifying looking people like not Jedi's no like just looks like civilians.

[00:43:44] [SPEAKER_01]: No but I'm saying the humans weird aliens not the humans but like the people who are having to defend their lives yeah are like chain to rocks they all look scared they don't have lightsabers anything crazy like that and then like huge giant beasts are coming out and just ripping them to shreds

[00:43:59] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:43:59] [SPEAKER_01]: And do coups watching and he's like loving it.

[00:44:02] [SPEAKER_03]: He's having a ball and then he's just casually is like great job getting in here but I'm not looking for a spy.

[00:44:07] [SPEAKER_01]: The camera pans out like it backs up because you don't see who he's talking to you see him looking he goes nice entrance.

[00:44:13] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah and then you just see a cloaked figure red eyes coming from underneath in the darkness.

[00:44:17] [SPEAKER_03]: You like all shadow and he's like yeah I'm not looking for a spy so she just jumps into the battle and kills all the monsters and he's like not bad.

[00:44:26] [SPEAKER_01]: Throws off her robe.

[00:44:27] [SPEAKER_03]: What was does she have the lightsabers yet.

[00:44:29] [SPEAKER_03]: There's two lightsabers.

[00:44:30] [SPEAKER_03]: Two lightsabers right.

[00:44:31] [SPEAKER_01]: But they're like shitty she like took him from someone else blue and green.

[00:44:33] [SPEAKER_01]: She's like a skinny white lady and I mean she's literally like white with like like markings.

[00:44:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes and she's got like wraps all over herself but she's like very svelte and she's got these long arms and then like white pupilless eyes.

[00:44:47] [SPEAKER_01]: And she's got two lightsabers and she just destroys everything.

[00:44:50] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah and he's like you got a lot of what it takes to be a Sith.

[00:44:54] [SPEAKER_03]: No he's just like very impressive and she's like well skills come natural because I'm a she says I'm a sit right and he's almost chapter seven is him being like yeah right.

[00:45:03] [SPEAKER_03]: You're not a sith and he kicks her ass because he's like you got some fear.

[00:45:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah you got a lot of the central tenets of this.

[00:45:10] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah because she just said sir and then she goes unconscious yeah and then that's the shit.

[00:45:17] [SPEAKER_03]: Then he wakes her up in a new room fights her with a lightsaber defeats her and then Darth Sidious's hologram shows up and he's like what do you think very very good.

[00:45:24] [SPEAKER_01]: And once again that one interaction establishes the relationship between Dooku and Sidious better than anything in the movies.

[00:45:34] [SPEAKER_01]: Because it's like Dooku even though he's an old dude is like so pretty good what I found here and it's like oh he really even though it's impressive we only see Dooku as this man of power in the films.

[00:45:44] [SPEAKER_03]: He's pretty powerful in these in this show though.

[00:45:46] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh no but what I'm saying is what I like in that moment is you see him deferring to another person.

[00:45:53] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah and how desperately he wants to impress Sidious which makes Sidious look all that more powerful.

[00:45:58] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes you're like oh fucking Dooku is acting like hey teacher I got you an apple here look look what I got.

[00:46:03] [SPEAKER_03]: Well also Sidious is like it doesn't matter like we're even going to kill Anakin because she's sent to kill Anakin we're either going to kill him or we're not.

[00:46:09] [SPEAKER_01]: Which makes Sidious look more badass.

[00:46:12] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah yeah like the power dynamics between the characters in these episodes are so well established.

[00:46:17] [SPEAKER_03]: But even what Dooku says to her like there's too much fear you're not using your anger properly.

[00:46:26] [SPEAKER_03]: Like he says like a couple of things that I was just like oh he was explaining what makes Sid different than Jedi which like happens like very very lightly.

[00:46:39] [SPEAKER_03]: It's just a little bit.

[00:46:40] [SPEAKER_01]: And she also goes like I hate the Jedi they are arrogant.

[00:46:44] [SPEAKER_03]: She's like oh yeah they're in an ancient order they need to be wiped out like old and creaky and yeah.

[00:46:49] [SPEAKER_01]: Which says arrogant too.

[00:46:50] [SPEAKER_01]: The first time I get why the Sith hate the Jedi that's not just about wanting to control the power.

[00:46:55] [SPEAKER_03]: These guys make the rules why do they get to make them.

[00:46:57] [SPEAKER_03]: It's so true though but like I was watching that scene again from Revenge of the Sith where Sidious where Palpatine is talking to Anakin

[00:47:05] [SPEAKER_03]: and I was like you know he has a couple of points here.

[00:47:09] [SPEAKER_03]: He has a couple of points here that actually makes sense.

[00:47:11] [SPEAKER_03]: And it would be so interesting to see a movie that explored like we think of the Jedi as like they're just good like they're the ultimate good.

[00:47:20] [SPEAKER_03]: But when somebody like actually like are they you're like you know what I actually don't know like who made you the boss.

[00:47:25] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah who did make you the boss.

[00:47:27] [SPEAKER_03]: Why do you get to say that you get to control power like why does Mace Windu be like you know what we just gonna have to take control of the Senate.

[00:47:32] [SPEAKER_03]: It's like whoa whoa whoa dude like why do you get to say that.

[00:47:37] [SPEAKER_01]: And also it's true.

[00:47:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh 100% true and also we have commented in the past most of the Jedi's come off as dicks.

[00:47:43] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah just on like a interpersonal level.

[00:47:45] [SPEAKER_03]: I agree with you except less so in this because Obi-Wan is actually the hero of this thing and he's a genuine hero for the show.

[00:47:51] [SPEAKER_01]: Why this series is amazing because it simultaneously retroactively justifies why the Sith hate the Jedi.

[00:47:56] [SPEAKER_01]: Why the Jedi came off as dicks in the movie.

[00:47:59] [SPEAKER_01]: And why the Jedi are still worth respecting because you see what they can be at their best.

[00:48:03] [SPEAKER_03]: So episode A is just Obi-Wan fighting Dirge and he like chops him up but he's not dead.

[00:48:10] [SPEAKER_03]: Okay so it's a very cool fight.

[00:48:11] [SPEAKER_03]: Awesome battles.

[00:48:12] [SPEAKER_03]: There's an amazing moment where like it's very medieval there kind of basically like charging at each other on these bikes with these lances.

[00:48:19] [SPEAKER_01]: And Obi-Wan's lances like his lightsaber.

[00:48:21] [SPEAKER_01]: There's this amazing moment it's another beautiful use of like the economy of movement and like silence.

[00:48:26] [SPEAKER_01]: They use a lot of silence in this thing.

[00:48:28] [SPEAKER_01]: You'll just hear the creaking of a ship or a blaster or something and there'll be the silence which like that's another thing I want to point out.

[00:48:34] [SPEAKER_01]: There are a couple moments across the series that gave me like chills where I even got a little spooked because I'm like war is scary.

[00:48:41] [SPEAKER_01]: The intensity of this thing it's not trying to be violent or like overwhelming but like the silence of waiting and like anticipating where the attack is going to come from is really well out.

[00:48:51] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh yeah.

[00:48:52] [SPEAKER_01]: Really well depicted.

[00:48:52] [SPEAKER_03]: Especially for one character.

[00:48:55] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh my god.

[00:48:57] [SPEAKER_01]: There's a moment I don't know if it's in this episode or the first introductory Dirge episode where they like Dirge appears and then they cut to a close up of one of Dirge's eyes which is just like a black slit in his helmet and they hold on it for a while and it's so scary because you're like there's just nothing there.

[00:49:16] [SPEAKER_01]: Like you just don't know what this thing is.

[00:49:19] [SPEAKER_01]: They're charging each other Obi Wan like gets like a master stroke instead of them right in the chest with the lightsaber.

[00:49:26] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah and he just cut to a wide shot and just the two of them standing there still and you're like OK they've established a visual language here that's what the finishing blow looks like lightsaber in the chest finishing blow done and then Dirge just like facts like takes the lightsaber out of his chest and it's like oh no you can't

[00:49:45] [SPEAKER_01]: Doesn't mean start laughing.

[00:49:47] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah he just starts laughing.

[00:49:48] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah I think he doesn't even take it out yet.

[00:49:50] [SPEAKER_03]: He starts laughing.

[00:49:51] [SPEAKER_03]: He just starts laughing first and then like and then it's kind of I think he throws a couple of punches before he even takes it out.

[00:49:59] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes yes you're correct.

[00:50:00] [SPEAKER_03]: It's amazing.

[00:50:01] [SPEAKER_01]: And like in the Assajj Ventress battle scene there's like a part where a big beast is coming at her and she throws her two lightsabers out.

[00:50:09] [SPEAKER_01]: He runs past her and then they just stand still and then the guy falls over.

[00:50:12] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah he does that.

[00:50:13] [SPEAKER_03]: He repeats that which is great.

[00:50:15] [SPEAKER_01]: He's like fucking with our expectations here and Dirge is about to fall over and then wide shot stillness laughter punches.

[00:50:22] [SPEAKER_01]: You can't stop this fucking.

[00:50:24] [SPEAKER_03]: I know it's just there are 25.

[00:50:26] [SPEAKER_03]: I know.

[00:50:27] [SPEAKER_03]: Chapter nine cuts him up and then you lays him he leaves and then you see the thing coming back together and then

[00:50:33] [SPEAKER_03]: Chapter nine they construct each other and he finally does and then he's like bloated.

[00:50:38] [SPEAKER_03]: He's like this weird like huge weird freaking.

[00:50:41] [SPEAKER_01]: He looks like something from the thing like all these tendrils coming out and Obi-Wan climbs inside his body and blows him up.

[00:50:47] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah he like he envelopes Obi-Wan.

[00:50:50] [SPEAKER_01]: Suck he gets sucked inside the body.

[00:50:52] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah he's like all tentacles in a suit of armor this guy rules he's the best character ever seen.

[00:50:57] [SPEAKER_03]: The clones are kind of putting up a fight too but they're not they're not winning and then he just

[00:51:01] [SPEAKER_03]: Obi-Wan just blows him up like like Will Smith and Men in Black.

[00:51:04] [SPEAKER_03]: It does leave like a little bit of like he sort of you see his remains slithering again.

[00:51:10] [SPEAKER_03]: Maybe he'll come back he doesn't come back here but I guess they wanted to just leave the door up to an awesome character.

[00:51:16] [SPEAKER_03]: DERGE rules.

[00:51:17] [SPEAKER_03]: DERGE rules.

[00:51:18] [SPEAKER_03]: Chapter ten there's a space battle.

[00:51:22] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh yeah that's Anakin's big space.

[00:51:23] [SPEAKER_03]: This is the finale of the season right and it's where Anakin is chasing ventress in the sky and real in the space.

[00:51:29] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah that's not a joy.

[00:51:31] [SPEAKER_03]: She's got this weird ship with like a thin you know it's sort of like it's hard to hit.

[00:51:36] [SPEAKER_03]: Yes.

[00:51:36] [SPEAKER_03]: And yeah and he makes he makes chase even though Obi-Wan's like don't do it like you're still a apprentice you can't be going off fucking space hunting.

[00:51:45] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah you know.

[00:51:46] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah that's what he says.

[00:51:48] [SPEAKER_03]: I still don't I still don't like Anakin at this point.

[00:51:51] [SPEAKER_03]: No but I they animate him he looks like an asshole like he's still looks like Christian yeah yeah honestly I was different actors we should know the only actor who's the same as Anthony Daniels.

[00:52:03] [SPEAKER_03]: Yes.

[00:52:03] [SPEAKER_03]: He still looks like Hayden Christian said and like I feel like all these actors they were they're all great all the voice actors.

[00:52:09] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah they're still they're still trying to do what the movie characters are and so like I've if Hayden wasn't so bad in the back of the clones I feel like it could have these cartoons could have been even better like they still I'm still I'm still not with Anakin.

[00:52:28] [SPEAKER_01]: I agree with you I will say two quick things to that.

[00:52:30] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay.

[00:52:30] [SPEAKER_01]: One whether or not you like what his assignment was the dude playing Anakin does an unbelievable Hayden Christian yes he does.

[00:52:40] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah the you and McGregor one's a little more like of an impressionistic thing like he doesn't really quite sound like him but he's just got the same vibe right.

[00:52:47] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah the Anakin one is more exact.

[00:52:49] [SPEAKER_01]: It's Hayden with better line readings.

[00:52:50] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah he gets the tone of the voice right and they're better line readings he just one ups Hayden as own game.

[00:52:55] [SPEAKER_01]: The second thing I'd say is I think at this point in the series you're not supposed to like Anakin.

[00:52:59] [SPEAKER_01]: This is the point of the series where he's like reckless and arrogant and isn't listening to anyone.

[00:53:04] [SPEAKER_01]: And I think this show does a good job eventually giving him an arc where you kind of buy it.

[00:53:08] [SPEAKER_01]: It does.

[00:53:09] [SPEAKER_01]: But I think at this point there's a reason why.

[00:53:10] [SPEAKER_01]: He's also supposed to be a hero though right.

[00:53:12] [SPEAKER_01]: But they're also not focusing on him that much.

[00:53:15] [SPEAKER_03]: He does all this crazy stuff he like drives in and out and blows ships up from the inside.

[00:53:19] [SPEAKER_03]: But it would have been nice to see him like save somebody like see him save someone so that I can at least be be like.

[00:53:26] [SPEAKER_03]: Okay there is something in him that's good.

[00:53:28] [SPEAKER_03]: Like when Padme's like they're still good in him.

[00:53:30] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm like I personally I've never seen good in Anakin.

[00:53:32] [SPEAKER_01]: Season three season three.

[00:53:34] [SPEAKER_03]: Alright we're gonna get there anyway chapter 11 is more of the same and that's where he's been.

[00:53:38] [SPEAKER_03]: So chapter 10 is like the big space battle.

[00:53:41] [SPEAKER_03]: Chapter 11 is him following Ventress.

[00:53:43] [SPEAKER_01]: You don't know if he catches Ventress or not.

[00:53:45] [SPEAKER_01]: They come back a year later.

[00:53:46] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm saying.

[00:53:46] [SPEAKER_03]: So chapter 12 I know it was just chapter 12 is one of the craziest.

[00:53:51] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh let's just throw out one thing about him finally defeating Ventress in 11.

[00:53:55] [SPEAKER_03]: No he doesn't defeat or he catches.

[00:53:56] [SPEAKER_01]: He just continues to follow her.

[00:53:59] [SPEAKER_01]: Gotcha.

[00:53:59] [SPEAKER_03]: No he hasn't even gotten close to defeating her.

[00:54:01] [SPEAKER_03]: Chapter 12 is the weird mace window thing.

[00:54:03] [SPEAKER_03]: So good.

[00:54:03] [SPEAKER_03]: With the crazy spaceship that like makes earthquakes.

[00:54:07] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh my god.

[00:54:08] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah and like a little boy is watching a battle basically unfold.

[00:54:12] [SPEAKER_01]: It's like a little farm boy.

[00:54:13] [SPEAKER_01]: And he sees off in a distance of bunch of droids.

[00:54:16] [SPEAKER_03]: Dantuin.

[00:54:17] [SPEAKER_03]: The planet.

[00:54:18] [SPEAKER_03]: Dantuin.

[00:54:19] [SPEAKER_03]: Dantuin is the planet.

[00:54:20] [SPEAKER_03]: Not tatooine.

[00:54:21] [SPEAKER_03]: Dantuin.

[00:54:22] [SPEAKER_01]: And this ship it just has like a stomper.

[00:54:24] [SPEAKER_01]: Like it's like a stamp.

[00:54:25] [SPEAKER_03]: It's nuts and it makes these like really scary tidal waves of sand.

[00:54:30] [SPEAKER_04]: Right but it's also just like crushing loads of clones.

[00:54:34] [SPEAKER_01]: And it's like yeah just like a quake in its like wake and mace window comes up.

[00:54:38] [SPEAKER_01]: He's got like a couple pieces of clone armor on him.

[00:54:40] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh.

[00:54:40] [SPEAKER_01]: He's got like shoulder pads.

[00:54:42] [SPEAKER_01]: And like wrist gauntlets.

[00:54:44] [SPEAKER_01]: And this dude just fucking kills it.

[00:54:46] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes.

[00:54:47] [SPEAKER_01]: Like they say in attack of the clones that mace window is the most powerful of the Jedi.

[00:54:50] [SPEAKER_01]: He's supposed to be the most powerful.

[00:54:51] [SPEAKER_01]: They fucking show it here.

[00:54:52] [SPEAKER_03]: Like and the best with the lightsaber.

[00:54:54] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:54:55] [SPEAKER_01]: Because he's going nuts.

[00:54:57] [SPEAKER_01]: Is this the one where there's a point where he actually like force throws a lightsaber through somebody and then pulls.

[00:55:03] [SPEAKER_01]: No Obi-Wan does that later.

[00:55:04] [SPEAKER_03]: Obi-Wan does that but Mace Windu just does a lot of crazy like sort of blocking you know like he's.

[00:55:10] [SPEAKER_03]: This is also this is also the episode because it was happening before but this is the episode where this animated series is like look let's be real.

[00:55:19] [SPEAKER_03]: We could do anything.

[00:55:20] [SPEAKER_03]: Let's be real.

[00:55:20] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:55:21] [SPEAKER_04]: We all love Jedi.

[00:55:22] [SPEAKER_04]: We know that they're powerful guys.

[00:55:25] [SPEAKER_04]: Let's make them the most powerful thing in the universe.

[00:55:28] [SPEAKER_03]: Let's show you how powerful the force can really be with somebody who is a master.

[00:55:36] [SPEAKER_03]: Mace Windu loses his lightsaber.

[00:55:38] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah this is what I was trying to remember.

[00:55:39] [SPEAKER_04]: He loses his lightsaber and he takes.

[00:55:42] Oh my god.

[00:55:43] [SPEAKER_04]: Oh my god.

[00:55:44] [SPEAKER_04]: The dude is like it's just like he's a force speed.

[00:55:47] [SPEAKER_04]: Force punch.

[00:55:48] [SPEAKER_04]: Like he will he like punches droids into oblivion then takes their spare parts and then chucks them at hundreds of droids.

[00:55:56] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.

[00:55:56] [SPEAKER_04]: And they blow up.

[00:55:58] [SPEAKER_03]: He's just like and then he like does these little like he'll like slide and then just do like a force like thing where it just blows like five heads in a row.

[00:56:07] [SPEAKER_03]: It's a maze.

[00:56:08] [SPEAKER_03]: Well and he does this like e Honda from Street Fire thing where he like kind of rapid fire punches things.

[00:56:13] [SPEAKER_01]: He does a couple of blocks.

[00:56:14] [SPEAKER_01]: He looks like a Rock'n'Suck'n Bro.

[00:56:15] [SPEAKER_03]: Like it's like yeah none stop.

[00:56:17] [SPEAKER_02]: That's chapter 13.

[00:56:18] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh my.

[00:56:19] [SPEAKER_02]: Chapter 12 is.

[00:56:20] [SPEAKER_02]: Wait wait wait.

[00:56:21] [SPEAKER_02]: I just want to say that whole thing with the kid at the end of the battle.

[00:56:25] [SPEAKER_02]: You don't like that.

[00:56:26] [SPEAKER_02]: But it gives him water.

[00:56:27] [SPEAKER_02]: I like that.

[00:56:28] [SPEAKER_01]: It humanizes him.

[00:56:30] [SPEAKER_03]: He's like our scary guy.

[00:56:33] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah he's a scary guy.

[00:56:35] [SPEAKER_03]: You know it's interesting because yeah.

[00:56:37] [SPEAKER_03]: He's a little scary person who often plays a lot of scary folk.

[00:56:40] [SPEAKER_03]: You know he's like a villain in a lot of movies and even when he's a hero he's a scary hero.

[00:56:44] [SPEAKER_03]: He never gets to be scary really.

[00:56:46] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah it does.

[00:56:47] [SPEAKER_03]: I will say it was like tad cheesy but it's cartoon.

[00:56:51] [SPEAKER_03]: No I like it.

[00:56:52] [SPEAKER_03]: I like it.

[00:56:53] [SPEAKER_03]: I like the intention of what they were doing.

[00:56:54] [SPEAKER_03]: I like anything that blows out the war is a wide screen event rather than humanizes the war.

[00:57:00] [SPEAKER_03]: It's like they're fighting on a real planet with like real people.

[00:57:03] [SPEAKER_03]: This is who they're fighting for.

[00:57:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah that boy.

[00:57:05] [SPEAKER_01]: That's who they're fighting for.

[00:57:06] [SPEAKER_01]: And like it might look scary to that boy but at the end of the day Mace Windu is

[00:57:08] [SPEAKER_01]: the one who comes over and says hi to him which is the difference between him

[00:57:11] [SPEAKER_01]: and the fucking.

[00:57:12] [SPEAKER_03]: And he takes out and we have to say that he takes out that huge ship.

[00:57:15] [SPEAKER_03]: He does all by himself.

[00:57:16] [SPEAKER_04]: He's like he just force jumps like they can force jump like miles.

[00:57:22] [SPEAKER_04]: Mace Windu rules.

[00:57:23] [SPEAKER_04]: Straight miles in the air.

[00:57:25] [SPEAKER_04]: It's amazing.

[00:57:26] [SPEAKER_03]: Dude rules.

[00:57:27] [SPEAKER_03]: All right.

[00:57:28] [SPEAKER_03]: Chapter 14 is a really interesting one that I want to talk about that's set in

[00:57:31] [SPEAKER_03]: like the lightsaber crystal cave with.

[00:57:34] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh yeah with.

[00:57:35] [SPEAKER_03]: Luminar and Dewey and Baras Ophi.

[00:57:39] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah it shows you how lightsabers making.

[00:57:40] [SPEAKER_03]: Making a lightsaber using like force telepathy.

[00:57:43] [SPEAKER_03]: Did you know about this before?

[00:57:44] [SPEAKER_03]: No it's not mentioned.

[00:57:46] [SPEAKER_03]: No no it's not mentioned in any of the movie.

[00:57:48] [SPEAKER_01]: The key to a lightsaber is a crystal.

[00:57:50] [SPEAKER_01]: It's a crystal.

[00:57:50] [SPEAKER_01]: And the crystals only exist in this one cave.

[00:57:52] [SPEAKER_03]: And they give this like there's a poem like the crystal is the heart of the

[00:57:56] [SPEAKER_03]: blade the heart is the crystal of a Jedi the Jedi is the crystal of the

[00:57:59] [SPEAKER_03]: force the force is the blade of the heart which is like a little cheesy.

[00:58:02] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah but guess what it's also like the only dialogue in that episode.

[00:58:05] [SPEAKER_01]: It's really cool.

[00:58:05] [SPEAKER_01]: So if you only have like characters speak that infrequently.

[00:58:08] [SPEAKER_01]: They get like ambushed the two of them.

[00:58:09] [SPEAKER_01]: I also say it's like it's the Mad Max Fury Road effect where it's like if you

[00:58:13] [SPEAKER_01]: really want to like put up a shut up and be like this is about action and

[00:58:18] [SPEAKER_01]: the only time we're going to speak is when something can only be explained

[00:58:22] [SPEAKER_01]: through words.

[00:58:23] [SPEAKER_01]: I'll excuse clunky dialogue.

[00:58:26] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah I'll excuse you being a little blunt with your metaphors or whatever.

[00:58:29] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:58:29] [SPEAKER_01]: If you're really like saving it for when you need it.

[00:58:32] [SPEAKER_01]: Right.

[00:58:33] [SPEAKER_01]: You know to underline a point or to like explain what the goals are and

[00:58:36] [SPEAKER_01]: this show does such a good fucking job of that.

[00:58:40] [SPEAKER_03]: Chapter 15 keeps this going with the Yoda side where he gets Amidala and Captain

[00:58:46] [SPEAKER_03]: Typho onto the snow.

[00:58:47] [SPEAKER_01]: We just have to mention because it's important comes back later.

[00:58:49] [SPEAKER_01]: They're building the thing with the crystals and then they're attacked in

[00:58:51] [SPEAKER_01]: the case.

[00:58:52] [SPEAKER_03]: They're ambushed by droids that are invisible which is cool too.

[00:58:58] [SPEAKER_03]: That's a that's a new thing that we never seen the any of the

[00:59:00] [SPEAKER_03]: children right.

[00:59:01] [SPEAKER_03]: Yes no and it's cool it's just like again it shows the diversity

[00:59:04] [SPEAKER_03]: of the droids.

[00:59:05] [SPEAKER_01]: Chameleon droids and it makes them it makes them scary but now there

[00:59:10] [SPEAKER_01]: was noise outside.

[00:59:11] [SPEAKER_01]: I know it's been funny.

[00:59:13] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah so chapter 15 is sort of interesting with Yoda kind of

[00:59:18] [SPEAKER_03]: being a jerk but with a little more of a noble you know but he's still

[00:59:21] [SPEAKER_03]: bossing everyone around.

[00:59:23] [SPEAKER_03]: Yes like we got to go to this planet and I think Typho raises

[00:59:26] [SPEAKER_03]: the really interest really reasonable thing of like no no

[00:59:30] [SPEAKER_03]: like there's a better you have their mission here.

[00:59:33] [SPEAKER_03]: That's really bad idea says the same exact thing that he said

[00:59:37] [SPEAKER_03]: and then I got in like Obi-Wan and like the Phantom Men is like

[00:59:40] [SPEAKER_03]: what are we doing Yoda doesn't mind trick on him to make him go

[00:59:44] [SPEAKER_03]: right.

[00:59:45] [SPEAKER_03]: And Amidala finds this hilarious because Padme also wants to

[00:59:48] [SPEAKER_01]: go because I know I want to see Anakin that's a big thing.

[00:59:51] [SPEAKER_01]: She's like I think we should this and that with an again

[00:59:52] [SPEAKER_01]: wants to be in the shit and then they're like what and

[00:59:55] [SPEAKER_01]: she's like just because I'm concerned like she immediately has

[00:59:57] [SPEAKER_01]: to cover up for the fact that she has any like stronger

[01:00:00] [SPEAKER_01]: relationship with Anakin which is also a thing I wanted to see

[01:00:03] [SPEAKER_01]: in these fucking movies.

[01:00:05] [SPEAKER_01]: The fact that their relationship is secret is never played off

[01:00:07] [SPEAKER_01]: in the interesting ways which is how they have to present themselves

[01:00:09] [SPEAKER_03]: to the world.

[01:00:10] [SPEAKER_03]: Tell you right.

[01:00:11] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh my god that scene with the pillars and they're just

[01:00:13] [SPEAKER_03]: like kiss pillars.

[01:00:15] [SPEAKER_03]: What is hap that scene was terrible chapter 16 this is

[01:00:19] [SPEAKER_03]: all flowing through is the one that's fucking focused

[01:00:22] [SPEAKER_03]: where she's in this sort of snow suit and she's like

[01:00:26] [SPEAKER_01]: this is becoming iconic outfit like this was a big cosplayer

[01:00:29] [SPEAKER_01]: thing for while it's called the snow bunny outfit.

[01:00:32] [SPEAKER_01]: Here's a thing I like about the outfit.

[01:00:33] [SPEAKER_01]: You know about that because I might bring a stupid I focus

[01:00:36] [SPEAKER_01]: on all the wrong things in life.

[01:00:39] [SPEAKER_01]: Here's a thing I like about this outfit.

[01:00:42] [SPEAKER_01]: It is actually practical.

[01:00:45] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it is stylish is well designed she looks cute

[01:00:47] [SPEAKER_01]: but more importantly it is what she would be wearing

[01:00:50] [SPEAKER_01]: for what she has to do on that day.

[01:00:52] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, which is not true of most of her outfits.

[01:00:55] [SPEAKER_01]: Right like it looks insulated as a hood.

[01:00:58] [SPEAKER_03]: What I like about chapter 16 is that Yoda's rescue mission

[01:01:04] [SPEAKER_03]: plays out off screen we don't see it.

[01:01:06] [SPEAKER_03]: He just comes out of the cave with the two Jedi.

[01:01:09] [SPEAKER_03]: They defeat but like it's all from Padme in the droids

[01:01:11] [SPEAKER_03]: perspective and it's really cool and we don't need to know.

[01:01:15] [SPEAKER_03]: Do we have to talk about seat 3PO just a little bit?

[01:01:17] [SPEAKER_03]: I think we have a clip to set it up.

[01:01:25] [SPEAKER_04]: Thanks 3PO.

[01:01:28] [SPEAKER_03]: What a piece of shit.

[01:01:30] [SPEAKER_01]: It was a pleasure Miss Padme.

[01:01:32] [SPEAKER_03]: That's good writing.

[01:01:34] [SPEAKER_03]: We don't need to hear it again.

[01:01:35] [SPEAKER_03]: She does use him as bait basically for the droids.

[01:01:39] [SPEAKER_03]: Well seat 3PO is just very like it is a comedic device

[01:01:43] [SPEAKER_03]: Anakin is an asshole to him too which is crazy

[01:01:47] [SPEAKER_03]: because Anakin built him.

[01:01:48] [SPEAKER_03]: He's like literally oh here's fucking seat 3PO.

[01:01:51] [SPEAKER_03]: He's an abusive father.

[01:01:53] [SPEAKER_03]: But yeah Yoda is here.

[01:01:55] [SPEAKER_01]: I'll be buried alive.

[01:01:58] [SPEAKER_03]: The only actor to do his own voice work.

[01:02:00] [SPEAKER_03]: Because Padme's like hmm she like throws a coat and hits the droid.

[01:02:05] [SPEAKER_03]: Let's just set this scene quickly.

[01:02:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Yoda is no but this important.

[01:02:09] [SPEAKER_01]: Yoda's saving the Jedi's.

[01:02:10] [SPEAKER_01]: This is not important.

[01:02:11] [SPEAKER_01]: Yoda's saving the Jedi's so Padme's on her own

[01:02:14] [SPEAKER_01]: just with the droids.

[01:02:15] [SPEAKER_01]: She sees a bunch of enemy droids coming towards her.

[01:02:18] [SPEAKER_01]: She's got a blast about how she's going to fight them off.

[01:02:20] [SPEAKER_03]: Right because she can't see them.

[01:02:21] [SPEAKER_03]: She doesn't have the force.

[01:02:23] [SPEAKER_03]: They're invisible.

[01:02:23] [SPEAKER_03]: She doesn't have the force.

[01:02:24] [SPEAKER_03]: She can't like force undo their shields.

[01:02:26] [SPEAKER_01]: But lasers like flying around their heads.

[01:02:28] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm going to kill you.

[01:02:29] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh wait who's that guy who will do literally anything I ask him to do?

[01:02:33] [SPEAKER_03]: Well first she goes first she takes she she's like hmm

[01:02:36] [SPEAKER_03]: she takes off her coat she throws in the air

[01:02:39] [SPEAKER_03]: a couple of blasts comes out she shoots one droid boom.

[01:02:42] [SPEAKER_03]: But there's still some more droids out there.

[01:02:44] [SPEAKER_01]: So now she knows where they are.

[01:02:45] [SPEAKER_01]: She was able to like but then she like looks at the her little shawl

[01:02:49] [SPEAKER_01]: and she's like idea bulb.

[01:02:52] [SPEAKER_03]: Second idea.

[01:02:53] [SPEAKER_01]: Hey C-3PO would you mind going to get that from me?

[01:02:55] [SPEAKER_03]: Chapter 17 is a sage ventress fighting.

[01:02:59] [SPEAKER_03]: C-3PO gets blown up he gets buried in the snow.

[01:03:01] [SPEAKER_03]: Hence the audio place.

[01:03:03] [SPEAKER_03]: I want to say something about Chapter 17 which I think is phenomenal.

[01:03:04] [SPEAKER_03]: Finally the uppity guy gets his.

[01:03:06] [SPEAKER_03]: Chapter 17 is really nice because it's the big battle between

[01:03:10] [SPEAKER_03]: Skywalker and Ventress.

[01:03:11] [SPEAKER_03]: But it's set on this really cool moon planet

[01:03:14] [SPEAKER_03]: that has this giant red planet in the sky.

[01:03:16] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah like beautiful.

[01:03:17] [SPEAKER_03]: And there's like forest.

[01:03:19] [SPEAKER_03]: Yes like yeah.

[01:03:20] [SPEAKER_03]: And these like old structures like these sort of weird stone you know temples

[01:03:24] [SPEAKER_03]: or it's very cool.

[01:03:26] [SPEAKER_03]: And what's the what is that?

[01:03:28] [SPEAKER_03]: Yavin 4.

[01:03:29] [SPEAKER_03]: No what's the um.

[01:03:30] [SPEAKER_03]: Osage Ventress.

[01:03:31] [SPEAKER_03]: Sage Ventress.

[01:03:32] [SPEAKER_03]: Sage Ventress.

[01:03:33] [SPEAKER_03]: And Sage Ventress like kills every clone that was with Anakin.

[01:03:37] [SPEAKER_03]: Yes.

[01:03:38] [SPEAKER_03]: Without him even knowing.

[01:03:40] [SPEAKER_03]: Obi-Wan sends the clones after Anakin she fucking murders them.

[01:03:43] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[01:03:44] [SPEAKER_03]: The clones die like crazy.

[01:03:46] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[01:03:47] [SPEAKER_03]: And there is that sense where sometimes Obi-Wan's like

[01:03:49] [SPEAKER_03]: they're like should we go after him?

[01:03:50] [SPEAKER_03]: And you realize like whatever Obi-Wan says right now

[01:03:53] [SPEAKER_03]: they're gonna do.

[01:03:54] [SPEAKER_03]: Like that's how they're programmed.

[01:03:55] [SPEAKER_03]: They are just going to do whatever the Jedi

[01:03:57] [SPEAKER_03]: tell them to do.

[01:03:58] [SPEAKER_03]: They're fearless warriors.

[01:03:58] [SPEAKER_03]: So you kind of get why they could fucking surprise the Jedi

[01:04:01] [SPEAKER_03]: in the third movie because it's like yeah these people

[01:04:04] [SPEAKER_03]: were literally always following orders.

[01:04:07] [SPEAKER_03]: Obviously this isn't in the movie.

[01:04:09] [SPEAKER_03]: No it's not in the movies.

[01:04:10] [SPEAKER_01]: No they're climbing up the stairs having this awesome battle.

[01:04:12] [SPEAKER_01]: Anakin's like ropes are getting like torn to shreds.

[01:04:14] [SPEAKER_03]: Starts raining.

[01:04:15] [SPEAKER_01]: Starts raining.

[01:04:16] [SPEAKER_01]: It's like oh no we're just...

[01:04:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Can we talk about that?

[01:04:18] [SPEAKER_01]: We're getting into chapter 18 which is fine.

[01:04:20] [SPEAKER_01]: No, no just keep going it all flows.

[01:04:21] [SPEAKER_03]: So it sets the scene so nicely though because it's just like

[01:04:25] [SPEAKER_03]: they're there I think she's up high he's down low

[01:04:30] [SPEAKER_03]: which I do kind of want to talk about the high ground thing though.

[01:04:33] [SPEAKER_03]: Anyway what because like the reason that Obi-Wan defeats

[01:04:38] [SPEAKER_04]: Anakin in the other movies he's like I have the high ground

[01:04:41] [SPEAKER_04]: and in the movie he's like barely ten feet higher than him.

[01:04:45] [SPEAKER_04]: I know.

[01:04:46] [SPEAKER_04]: She's like fifty, sixty feet above the climbing stairs.

[01:04:50] [SPEAKER_04]: And he just jumps up and then she can't do anything.

[01:04:53] [SPEAKER_04]: It's made up.

[01:04:53] [SPEAKER_04]: What's the high ground thing?

[01:04:55] [SPEAKER_03]: It's made up it's never talked about again.

[01:04:57] [SPEAKER_03]: It's made up stupid shit.

[01:04:58] [SPEAKER_03]: It makes me so mad.

[01:05:00] [SPEAKER_01]: It's the worst.

[01:05:00] [SPEAKER_04]: I hate it.

[01:05:01] [SPEAKER_04]: What is this high ground?

[01:05:02] [SPEAKER_03]: There should have been an emotional reason why Obi-Wan kills Anakin.

[01:05:05] [SPEAKER_04]: I have the high ground it's over it's like what are you talking about dude?

[01:05:09] [SPEAKER_03]: Anakin loses control of his emotions one last time and Obi-Wan beats him that way.

[01:05:14] [SPEAKER_03]: Not oh I have the high ground.

[01:05:17] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm on the thing and here's just a little below me.

[01:05:19] [SPEAKER_03]: Are we are we supposed to believe that's why Yoda runs away too?

[01:05:21] [SPEAKER_04]: Because he doesn't have the high ground anymore.

[01:05:23] [SPEAKER_04]: Yoda never has the high ground he's too big tall.

[01:05:25] [SPEAKER_04]: Also Yoda was like below and Palpatine's throwing stuff out and he didn't have the high ground then.

[01:05:31] [SPEAKER_04]: Also why if Yoda blocks the light for lightning why does he get blown like fifty feet?

[01:05:38] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah Palpatine.

[01:05:39] [SPEAKER_03]: This is the problem and it's even a problem here because I'll say because like Jedi powers there's just two transmutable like we don't know.

[01:05:46] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah I'm sorry.

[01:05:47] [SPEAKER_03]: We don't quite know how they work that was fantastic what do you think?

[01:05:49] [SPEAKER_03]: Amazing thank you.

[01:05:50] [SPEAKER_03]: Thank you for sharing that with us.

[01:05:51] [SPEAKER_03]: It is it's a real problem like because we just don't understand how they can be so good in one scene and then so flawed in another.

[01:05:58] [SPEAKER_03]: Even in this it's like sometimes there's a variation.

[01:06:01] [SPEAKER_03]: Why can you sometimes like take a clone and throw them whatever but why couldn't you do that with Anakin?

[01:06:07] [SPEAKER_03]: Sometimes they just fly.

[01:06:10] [SPEAKER_03]: Do they cancel maybe the force cancels each other out?

[01:06:13] [SPEAKER_01]: Might be like two batteries not batteries magnets two magnets.

[01:06:16] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah I do think when two Jedi's are against each other right there's more going on because they just have to.

[01:06:21] [SPEAKER_03]: My question has always been why don't you just turn off their lightsaber with the Force right?

[01:06:25] [SPEAKER_03]: Or just grab their lightsaber with the Force.

[01:06:28] [SPEAKER_03]: So I assume there's some interplay where it's like you're both canceling that out right?

[01:06:31] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah I think that happens.

[01:06:32] [SPEAKER_03]: So anyway I was trying to see where the rain starts because it just falls like it's like the stillness.

[01:06:37] [SPEAKER_03]: Yes and there's one drop it's like another drop.

[01:06:41] [SPEAKER_03]: And they're motionless with like their lightsabers.

[01:06:44] [SPEAKER_03]: It's so awesome there's steam coming off the lightsabers anyway.

[01:06:47] [SPEAKER_03]: And then chapter 19.

[01:06:48] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh did no 19 is the end of the battle.

[01:06:50] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah epic battle.

[01:06:52] [SPEAKER_01]: So there's this amazing battle incredible battle.

[01:06:55] [SPEAKER_01]: Anakin's like he's wearing like a vest now.

[01:06:58] [SPEAKER_01]: Like his outer robes have been like lost to the winds.

[01:07:02] [SPEAKER_01]: And there's this moment where Anakin like has not literally the high ground but like has her in a winning position.

[01:07:09] [SPEAKER_01]: Like he has her to checkmate essentially.

[01:07:11] [SPEAKER_01]: And he like it's his to win and you see the anger come out.

[01:07:15] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes right.

[01:07:16] [SPEAKER_01]: Like Jenny Tartowski uses all the powers of visual storytelling to show Anakin suddenly go from being like a hero who we're hoping can win

[01:07:24] [SPEAKER_01]: in the underdog position to being like suddenly a sort of terrifying figure.

[01:07:29] [SPEAKER_01]: And as the lightning strikes and the thunder goes off he sees flashes of like etchings like against black.

[01:07:36] [SPEAKER_01]: Like just line etchings of like Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan and Yoda and the Jedi Council.

[01:07:42] [SPEAKER_01]: And with no words you get the whole thing.

[01:07:45] [SPEAKER_01]: It's him struggling with his anger and knowing what they said about him and where his anger can lead him

[01:07:50] [SPEAKER_01]: but wanting so badly to beat her in this moment.

[01:07:52] [SPEAKER_01]: And he just like fucking demolishes her.

[01:07:54] [SPEAKER_01]: And there's a scream.

[01:07:56] [SPEAKER_03]: Isn't the picture her kind of on the ground with the lightsaber and him just banging on the lightsaber?

[01:08:02] [SPEAKER_03]: Yes.

[01:08:03] [SPEAKER_03]: What a great picture right?

[01:08:04] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah and then she finally drops one and then he basically knocks her off her cliff.

[01:08:08] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah it's like a really great picture to see like somebody on the ground with a lightsaber.

[01:08:14] [SPEAKER_03]: Hey Bith.

[01:08:15] [SPEAKER_03]: No Bith.

[01:08:15] [SPEAKER_03]: No Bith.

[01:08:17] [SPEAKER_03]: No Biths is a great picture.

[01:08:18] [SPEAKER_03]: And then he throws her lightsaber with a scream into the chasm.

[01:08:21] [SPEAKER_03]: Obviously she's still alive.

[01:08:23] [SPEAKER_03]: This never picks that up again but like DERGE, like you know you don't see a body.

[01:08:28] [SPEAKER_03]: No episode 20 is what I think it is right?

[01:08:30] [SPEAKER_03]: Episode 20 is the end of the second season in the introduction of General Grievous.

[01:08:34] [SPEAKER_03]: General Grievous.

[01:08:34] [SPEAKER_03]: Now I will say-

[01:08:35] [SPEAKER_03]: Can I just say, not up to four yet.

[01:08:39] [SPEAKER_03]: Again, I saw the animated series before I saw episode three.

[01:08:45] [SPEAKER_03]: I cannot tell you how excited I was to see General Grievous in Revenge of the Sith.

[01:08:53] [SPEAKER_03]: Grievous rules.

[01:08:53] [SPEAKER_03]: Nobody knew who he was and I understand everybody hates him because they only know him from the movies and rightfully so.

[01:09:01] [SPEAKER_03]: In this, he is one of the most terrifying villains ever.

[01:09:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Yep, I agree.

[01:09:09] [SPEAKER_01]: Here are a couple things about General Grievous, his depiction in this animated Clone Wars series.

[01:09:16] [SPEAKER_01]: One, he's a boss.

[01:09:18] [SPEAKER_01]: He's a pretty fucking big boss.

[01:09:20] [SPEAKER_01]: Two, he does not cough.

[01:09:23] [SPEAKER_01]: No coughing.

[01:09:24] [SPEAKER_03]: No coughing.

[01:09:25] [SPEAKER_03]: Now to be fair they are setting up his coughing later on.

[01:09:28] [SPEAKER_03]: We'll get to his setup.

[01:09:29] [SPEAKER_03]: Yes, but-

[01:09:30] [SPEAKER_03]: Coughing?

[01:09:31] [SPEAKER_03]: Three, no cough.

[01:09:32] [SPEAKER_03]: His voice isn't stupid.

[01:09:34] [SPEAKER_03]: He's a totally different actor.

[01:09:35] [SPEAKER_03]: It's John DiMaggio in this episode.

[01:09:38] [SPEAKER_03]: It's a different actor in the other episodes.

[01:09:39] [SPEAKER_01]: Voice of Bender in Futurama.

[01:09:40] [SPEAKER_01]: Many, many great actors.

[01:09:42] [SPEAKER_01]: Jake the dog, Marcus Phoenix in Gears of War.

[01:09:45] [SPEAKER_01]: One of our most prolific voice-over actors.

[01:09:47] [SPEAKER_01]: Great voice actors.

[01:09:48] [SPEAKER_01]: A lot of great voice actors like Great Delilah worked on this show.

[01:09:51] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but it heavily modulated, strong voice.

[01:09:54] [SPEAKER_01]: He's got a touch of a British accent.

[01:09:56] [SPEAKER_01]: But he's not doing the Transylvanian thing.

[01:09:59] [SPEAKER_01]: But yet, the way they depict Grievous is very vampiric in this.

[01:10:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes.

[01:10:05] [SPEAKER_01]: Like they use his cape and the angles of it.

[01:10:07] [SPEAKER_01]: And he's often hiding, like hanging from the ceiling.

[01:10:10] [SPEAKER_03]: Can we say though, even before we see him-

[01:10:14] [SPEAKER_01]: Let's talk about this.

[01:10:15] [SPEAKER_03]: Here's the thing, they also set up the fact that their armies were destroyed.

[01:10:22] [SPEAKER_03]: And that Grievous is a master general.

[01:10:24] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, you get like a call from someone who's like,

[01:10:28] [SPEAKER_04]: We've been wiped out.

[01:10:29] [SPEAKER_04]: There's a new Troy general.

[01:10:30] [SPEAKER_04]: Like, yeah.

[01:10:31] [SPEAKER_01]: He knows our every move before we do it.

[01:10:33] [SPEAKER_01]: Like he's out thinking that.

[01:10:35] [SPEAKER_01]: This episode starts in a cave.

[01:10:37] [SPEAKER_01]: Kaedeemundi is there with a bunch of Jedi's.

[01:10:39] [SPEAKER_01]: A couple of padwans.

[01:10:41] [SPEAKER_01]: One guy who's like the Bill Paxton aliens character.

[01:10:45] [SPEAKER_01]: Like the one who's scared.

[01:10:46] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh yeah, he's like, I don't know.

[01:10:47] [SPEAKER_01]: He's all scared.

[01:10:48] [SPEAKER_04]: He's coming, he's coming.

[01:10:49] [SPEAKER_01]: They got a wolf.

[01:10:50] [SPEAKER_04]: Game over man.

[01:10:50] [SPEAKER_04]: There's a wolf?

[01:10:53] [SPEAKER_04]: There's a wolf.

[01:10:53] [SPEAKER_03]: The winner in a poll, the Cartoon Network held for like what new Jedi should be introduced.

[01:10:59] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh really?

[01:11:00] [SPEAKER_03]: I would have went with Bat Pecky.

[01:11:02] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I agree actually.

[01:11:03] [SPEAKER_03]: No, I like the big guy.

[01:11:04] [SPEAKER_03]: What was his name?

[01:11:05] [SPEAKER_02]: Aragashu.

[01:11:07] [SPEAKER_02]: He's big.

[01:11:08] [SPEAKER_02]: He's a big bugger.

[01:11:09] [SPEAKER_02]: It claps.

[01:11:11] [SPEAKER_02]: Please send in fan art for Ben's character.

[01:11:12] [SPEAKER_03]: This is a good Kaedeemundi episode because he's like, hold, hold.

[01:11:17] [SPEAKER_03]: You know, at the 3PM moon days.

[01:11:18] [SPEAKER_03]: I want to go, I want to go.

[01:11:20] [SPEAKER_01]: There's silence.

[01:11:21] [SPEAKER_01]: They're in the cave.

[01:11:21] [SPEAKER_01]: They know something's coming.

[01:11:23] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh my God, they show this sweat from Kaedeemundi.

[01:11:25] [SPEAKER_03]: You see the sweat on his hand dripping down and then his forehead.

[01:11:27] [SPEAKER_01]: Cause he's like, he's a master and he's scared and nervous.

[01:11:31] [SPEAKER_01]: And everyone else is scared and they have their lightsabers ready.

[01:11:34] [SPEAKER_01]: Kaedeemundi has not even turned his on yet.

[01:11:36] [SPEAKER_01]: Like he's ready.

[01:11:37] [SPEAKER_01]: He holds back until the moment he needs to.

[01:11:39] [SPEAKER_01]: He's got his finger on the button.

[01:11:41] [SPEAKER_01]: And he's just standing there with these Jedi's behind him.

[01:11:44] [SPEAKER_03]: And they hear the clunking.

[01:11:48] [SPEAKER_03]: I still think this is bullshit.

[01:11:50] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm sorry.

[01:11:50] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm sorry.

[01:11:51] [SPEAKER_03]: I still don't like the whole, he swirls his sabers around.

[01:11:56] [SPEAKER_03]: You just can't make that look like a battle that I can follow with my eyes.

[01:12:00] [SPEAKER_03]: I agree.

[01:12:01] [SPEAKER_01]: You know what I like?

[01:12:02] [SPEAKER_01]: It's just chaos once he's fighting.

[01:12:03] [SPEAKER_01]: What I do like that they do in this is he uses his feet in a crazy way.

[01:12:07] [SPEAKER_01]: He does.

[01:12:07] [SPEAKER_01]: He like switches the sabers between his hands and his feet and shit.

[01:12:11] [SPEAKER_01]: His feet are like hands.

[01:12:12] [SPEAKER_01]: And he's like hanging from the ceiling with them.

[01:12:14] [SPEAKER_01]: He's fighting with them.

[01:12:15] [SPEAKER_01]: He's grabbing people with them.

[01:12:16] [SPEAKER_01]: Like he moves really like a vampire.

[01:12:18] [SPEAKER_01]: He's like hanging like a bat.

[01:12:20] [SPEAKER_01]: He's sort of swinging down.

[01:12:21] [SPEAKER_03]: He just takes out his two arms.

[01:12:23] [SPEAKER_03]: He just has the two arms and the two legs.

[01:12:25] [SPEAKER_03]: He's doing the swinging thing, whatever.

[01:12:28] [SPEAKER_03]: They did it because it was in the freaking movie.

[01:12:30] [SPEAKER_03]: But you still see he's really good at fighting with the lightsaber.

[01:12:35] [SPEAKER_01]: This guy's amazing.

[01:12:35] [SPEAKER_01]: And he's really terrifying.

[01:12:37] [SPEAKER_03]: And this is the finale we should say.

[01:12:39] [SPEAKER_03]: So it's like he kills Cliffhanger.

[01:12:40] [SPEAKER_03]: He kills like three of them I feel like.

[01:12:43] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[01:12:43] [SPEAKER_01]: And the Cliffhanger is he and Keyati Mundi like staring each other down in the cave.

[01:12:48] [SPEAKER_01]: And you're just like shit.

[01:12:49] [SPEAKER_01]: This guy means business.

[01:12:51] [SPEAKER_01]: Now I know we've been taking a lot of time with him.

[01:12:52] [SPEAKER_01]: Season three we can go faster because season three pretty much just has like two plot lines across this episode.

[01:12:58] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[01:12:58] [SPEAKER_01]: Can I say something?

[01:12:59] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't think season three is as good.

[01:13:00] [SPEAKER_03]: I agree.

[01:13:01] [SPEAKER_03]: I think the longer length of the episodes hurts it.

[01:13:04] [SPEAKER_03]: I think the three minute thing was really cool.

[01:13:06] [SPEAKER_03]: Although we should say that Grievous episode is like seven minutes.

[01:13:08] [SPEAKER_03]: It's like a real finale.

[01:13:10] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[01:13:10] [SPEAKER_01]: I think the season three is not as good either.

[01:13:13] [SPEAKER_01]: I think the three minute format's better because it's like really objective focus.

[01:13:17] [SPEAKER_01]: This person has to get to this place.

[01:13:18] [SPEAKER_03]: Well and also it really you know promotes an economy of storytelling that is like really missing from everything else in the Star Wars media franchise.

[01:13:29] [SPEAKER_03]: Agreed.

[01:13:30] [SPEAKER_03]: Fucking toy boxes have less economy of storytelling and this goddamn great show.

[01:13:36] [SPEAKER_01]: Two additional thoughts as to why season three isn't as good and they're connected.

[01:13:41] [SPEAKER_01]: One is I think more Anakin century.

[01:13:45] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[01:13:45] [SPEAKER_01]: Well and this is all tied to this thing.

[01:13:48] [SPEAKER_01]: I think it was more handcuffed to leading into Revenge of the Sith.

[01:13:53] [SPEAKER_03]: Like to that.

[01:13:54] [SPEAKER_03]: That is true.

[01:13:55] [SPEAKER_03]: They have to set up revenge of the they literally leave it off at the exact moment that the

[01:14:00] [SPEAKER_03]: and this aired in March 2005 and then you know for the next few weeks so it was literally right before the movie came out.

[01:14:07] [SPEAKER_01]: The effects weren't locked but they were writing and aiming this series knowing what revenge of the Sith was.

[01:14:11] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah they probably were finishing the effects but had a final cut knew exactly what the movie was and George was like you have to take us to this finish line.

[01:14:18] [SPEAKER_01]: Point two is I think George was far more involved in this one.

[01:14:21] [SPEAKER_01]: That's possible.

[01:14:21] [SPEAKER_01]: And I think that's connected to point one but I think these episodes are a lot more plot heavy.

[01:14:26] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes there's a lot more dialogue in them.

[01:14:28] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes it's not ever as bad as it is in the prequels but there are two things that happen a lot with the dialogue.

[01:14:34] [SPEAKER_01]: One is dumb jokie one liners.

[01:14:37] [SPEAKER_01]: There are some dumb jokie one liners.

[01:14:39] [SPEAKER_03]: Wait can I tell you a picture of Palpatine.

[01:14:40] [SPEAKER_03]: Yes.

[01:14:41] [SPEAKER_03]: Can I tell you oh yeah.

[01:14:42] [SPEAKER_02]: Can I tell you some things dumb jokie one liners.

[01:14:45] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh no!

[01:14:47] [SPEAKER_04]: The lady must get you to safety.

[01:14:49] [SPEAKER_01]: No we have to evacuate the building.

[01:14:51] [SPEAKER_01]: Get everyone to a shelter.

[01:14:53] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes my lady.

[01:14:54] [SPEAKER_04]: An army of droids.

[01:14:56] [SPEAKER_01]: Here I'd like to have a serious talk with your programmers.

[01:14:59] [SPEAKER_01]: Come on 3px.

[01:15:01] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh that's it.

[01:15:02] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay great job Ben.

[01:15:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Woo!

[01:15:04] [SPEAKER_01]: That was really good.

[01:15:04] [SPEAKER_01]: I feel really good about that.

[01:15:05] [SPEAKER_01]: Great job Benny boy.

[01:15:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh my god.

[01:15:08] [SPEAKER_01]: Can I tell you something?

[01:15:08] [SPEAKER_01]: Brailock is losing it.

[01:15:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Listening to that out of context it is so bad.

[01:15:13] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah we don't really need to discuss the dialogue anymore.

[01:15:16] [SPEAKER_01]: That's you now get it's jokier it's a lot more exposition heavy.

[01:15:20] [SPEAKER_04]: He's just yelling he's just yelling while battles go on.

[01:15:24] [SPEAKER_04]: He can't believe in army of droids.

[01:15:26] [SPEAKER_04]: I'm gonna talk to your programmers.

[01:15:27] [SPEAKER_04]: What are you talking about?

[01:15:29] [SPEAKER_04]: You've seen droid armies for years.

[01:15:32] [SPEAKER_03]: Well I mean and we I think Morgan referenced this in episode two when he's like machines making machines.

[01:15:37] [SPEAKER_03]: What are you talking about?

[01:15:39] [SPEAKER_03]: It's the most common place thing in the world.

[01:15:41] [SPEAKER_04]: Why is C3PO so knowledgeable on so many things but on the most basic functions of machines?

[01:15:49] [SPEAKER_04]: He doesn't get it?

[01:15:50] [SPEAKER_04]: He knows 6,000 languages or what a flip.

[01:15:54] [SPEAKER_04]: Oh yeah.

[01:15:54] [SPEAKER_04]: He knows like how to talk to other robots but doesn't understand machines make machines?

[01:16:01] [SPEAKER_01]: What?

[01:16:02] [SPEAKER_01]: The other thing with C3PO is he seems to think that he's the only robot that can do anything.

[01:16:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Like and he's a droid picking up a scarf.

[01:16:09] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[01:16:09] [SPEAKER_01]: How dare they?

[01:16:10] [SPEAKER_04]: Why did Anakin program him to be this like elitist?

[01:16:16] [SPEAKER_03]: Elitist snobby uptight like oh my god.

[01:16:19] [SPEAKER_03]: This guy sucks.

[01:16:19] [SPEAKER_03]: I want to tell you some things about this third season of the Clone Wars that I just found out about though.

[01:16:24] [SPEAKER_01]: Last thing I want to say about it is and this might be connected and it's connected to I think George's greater influence on tying into the season.

[01:16:30] [SPEAKER_01]: It's a lot more plot heavy.

[01:16:32] [SPEAKER_01]: Like there's a lot of like shitty clunky plotting they have to get through.

[01:16:36] [SPEAKER_01]: What did you find out about the third season?

[01:16:38] [SPEAKER_03]: There was originally no plan for a third season.

[01:16:40] [SPEAKER_03]: Not surprising.

[01:16:41] [SPEAKER_03]: I knew it.

[01:16:42] [SPEAKER_03]: Then George Lucas decided they should have a third season.

[01:16:45] [SPEAKER_03]: Of course.

[01:16:45] [SPEAKER_03]: He specified that he wanted them to resolve the storyline of On High Poetry which is the grievous attacking the Jedi storyline.

[01:16:54] [SPEAKER_03]: Because his son Jet was eager to find out how that particular story ended.

[01:17:01] [SPEAKER_01]: Great.

[01:17:02] [SPEAKER_03]: Is this the same Jet who is-

[01:17:04] [SPEAKER_01]: The little fighting boy.

[01:17:06] [SPEAKER_03]: I have to say though I do like Jet.

[01:17:08] [SPEAKER_03]: I do too.

[01:17:08] [SPEAKER_03]: He seems cool.

[01:17:09] [SPEAKER_03]: He's really good enough to film.

[01:17:10] [SPEAKER_03]: Anyway, you can't blame the kid for wanting that.

[01:17:14] [SPEAKER_03]: No.

[01:17:14] [SPEAKER_03]: Look I mean you just blame George.

[01:17:16] [SPEAKER_03]: You've got a direct line to George Lucas.

[01:17:17] [SPEAKER_03]: I just wish Jet would ask a few other questions of his dad.

[01:17:20] [SPEAKER_03]: Yes.

[01:17:21] [SPEAKER_03]: Agreed.

[01:17:21] [SPEAKER_03]: Like why make these movies this way?

[01:17:23] [SPEAKER_03]: I would say the most interesting thing about chapter 21 is the nighting of Anakin.

[01:17:28] [SPEAKER_03]: That whole sequence.

[01:17:29] [SPEAKER_03]: The flashback to Qui-Gon.

[01:17:30] [SPEAKER_03]: Yes.

[01:17:31] [SPEAKER_03]: The tension between-

[01:17:33] [SPEAKER_03]: Brief tension between Anakin and Obi-Wan where he's like you're no Qui-Gon which is like true.

[01:17:37] [SPEAKER_03]: Can we also say though that even though season three is not as good it's still better.

[01:17:43] [SPEAKER_01]: No question.

[01:17:43] [SPEAKER_01]: Than the movies.

[01:17:44] [SPEAKER_01]: No question.

[01:17:45] [SPEAKER_03]: And still set up things.

[01:17:46] [SPEAKER_03]: Like I said it's still made even though it's ridiculous for George to want it to connect so like to the T.

[01:17:53] [SPEAKER_03]: It made episode three better.

[01:17:55] [SPEAKER_03]: If you watched season three if you watch this Clone Wars series it made episode three better.

[01:18:01] [SPEAKER_03]: Unquestionably.

[01:18:01] [SPEAKER_03]: I agree.

[01:18:03] [SPEAKER_03]: One other thing I want to talk about.

[01:18:04] [SPEAKER_03]: Well anyway also there's that flashback to young Anakin going into like a cave with his Qui-Gon.

[01:18:08] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh I love it.

[01:18:09] [SPEAKER_03]: Which is very atmospheric.

[01:18:10] [SPEAKER_03]: I wish we could have seen that in a movie too bad we didn't.

[01:18:13] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah it's like a cave where you face your own nightmares.

[01:18:15] [SPEAKER_01]: I would have liked to have seen this.

[01:18:16] [SPEAKER_01]: What a great idea.

[01:18:17] [SPEAKER_01]: What a great idea.

[01:18:18] [SPEAKER_01]: What a good idea.

[01:18:19] [SPEAKER_01]: What a great idea.

[01:18:19] [SPEAKER_01]: What a great idea.

[01:18:20] [SPEAKER_01]: Wow.

[01:18:21] [SPEAKER_01]: That's like a thing you should put in like the second movie of a trilogy.

[01:18:24] [SPEAKER_01]: I agree.

[01:18:24] [SPEAKER_01]: You know like the character meeting their fears.

[01:18:27] [SPEAKER_01]: A manifestation.

[01:18:28] [SPEAKER_01]: No bits.

[01:18:28] [SPEAKER_04]: Like that is a good idea.

[01:18:29] [SPEAKER_04]: No good ideas.

[01:18:30] [SPEAKER_01]: That's a second act scene if I've ever seen one.

[01:18:33] [SPEAKER_03]: The nighting scene though so it's made very clear like they're nighting Anakin young and

[01:18:37] [SPEAKER_03]: like I like the dialogue that you over here where some people are like he's the

[01:18:40] [SPEAKER_03]: chosen one can we get on with this already.

[01:18:42] [SPEAKER_03]: It's so good.

[01:18:44] [SPEAKER_03]: And you sort of see like the seat.

[01:18:45] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah yeah.

[01:18:46] [SPEAKER_03]: You see the seat to the problem.

[01:18:47] [SPEAKER_03]: I love the argument.

[01:18:48] [SPEAKER_01]: They seem human for the first time.

[01:18:50] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah they do.

[01:18:51] [SPEAKER_03]: And we see like they don't seem like a unified front.

[01:18:53] [SPEAKER_03]: They're not a union.

[01:18:54] [SPEAKER_03]: And then his induction is like a real mafia thing where they all like surround him in a

[01:18:58] [SPEAKER_03]: shadow.

[01:18:59] [SPEAKER_03]: It's like it's like a ton of their lightsabers and Obi-Wan I mean Yoda cuts off Anakin's

[01:19:03] [SPEAKER_03]: braid with the lightsaber which is dangerous.

[01:19:05] [SPEAKER_01]: And he like mimes like nighting him on each shoulder.

[01:19:08] [SPEAKER_01]: I didn't like touch the shoulders.

[01:19:09] [SPEAKER_01]: I didn't like that.

[01:19:10] [SPEAKER_01]: But they also say this is a big thing.

[01:19:11] [SPEAKER_01]: He's like you know I guess we're gonna have to hurry it along.

[01:19:14] [SPEAKER_01]: He's been an unconventional Jedi his test his final test will have to be as unconventional.

[01:19:18] [SPEAKER_01]: The spirit.

[01:19:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Right.

[01:19:20] [SPEAKER_01]: And he's like oh no this comes later.

[01:19:23] [SPEAKER_01]: So this whole season is kind of like two main plot lines that are happening.

[01:19:27] [SPEAKER_01]: One is that Grievous is trying to kidnap Palpatine.

[01:19:30] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah they show the attack that we open up with on episode three.

[01:19:36] [SPEAKER_01]: They show like that attack happened.

[01:19:38] [SPEAKER_01]: And how Palpatine ended up with Grievous.

[01:19:40] [SPEAKER_01]: But they like get the sense that Palpatine is gonna be kidnapped.

[01:19:44] [SPEAKER_01]: So a bunch of the Jedis led by...

[01:19:47] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't think they even knew that though.

[01:19:48] [SPEAKER_01]: I feel like it was just the protocol.

[01:19:51] [SPEAKER_03]: It was just like they were like well there's an attack happening.

[01:19:54] [SPEAKER_03]: We need to get you to a bunker.

[01:19:56] [SPEAKER_03]: Like that's what makes sense.

[01:19:57] [SPEAKER_01]: It's great.

[01:19:57] [SPEAKER_01]: It's Shakti is like leading this.

[01:19:59] [SPEAKER_01]: She has like red and white like candy striped long braid.

[01:20:02] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah Barbershop.

[01:20:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[01:20:03] [SPEAKER_01]: And what's the throat Jedi?

[01:20:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh this dude's amazing.

[01:20:07] [SPEAKER_01]: He looks like a hammerhead shark.

[01:20:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah he does.

[01:20:11] [SPEAKER_01]: He looks like a hammerhead shark.

[01:20:12] [SPEAKER_01]: And he has the throat.

[01:20:15] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh yeah yeah.

[01:20:16] [SPEAKER_01]: Look at this guy's name.

[01:20:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Alright let's find him.

[01:20:19] [SPEAKER_01]: But they go to Palpatine.

[01:20:20] [SPEAKER_01]: They're like Palpatine.

[01:20:21] [SPEAKER_01]: The forces are coming closer.

[01:20:23] [SPEAKER_01]: We should get you out of here for safety.

[01:20:24] [SPEAKER_01]: And Palpatine is standing right by the window and he's like,

[01:20:27] [SPEAKER_01]: No I don't hear any force.

[01:20:29] [SPEAKER_01]: And they're like no dude we're not kidding around.

[01:20:31] [SPEAKER_01]: We gotta come with us right now.

[01:20:32] [SPEAKER_03]: You guys are jumping ahead to another chapter though.

[01:20:34] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean I wanted to talk about chapter 22.

[01:20:35] [SPEAKER_03]: You wanted to do it in order?

[01:20:36] [SPEAKER_03]: I was saying...

[01:20:37] [SPEAKER_03]: Wait what's it?

[01:20:37] [SPEAKER_03]: Okay what's the story?

[01:20:37] [SPEAKER_03]: Well I just like the chapter 22 at the beginning where there's that guy who's like

[01:20:40] [SPEAKER_03]: They're gonna need a hundred million Jedi to take this down.

[01:20:44] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh yeah.

[01:20:45] [SPEAKER_03]: That guy and then he's like who they...

[01:20:46] [SPEAKER_03]: How many is he sending?

[01:20:48] [SPEAKER_03]: Like just two.

[01:20:48] [SPEAKER_03]: That dude is really funny.

[01:20:49] [SPEAKER_01]: Cause he's talking to a droid so the droid can't...

[01:20:51] [SPEAKER_03]: He's like yeah how much? 50?

[01:20:53] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah and he's like just two.

[01:20:54] [SPEAKER_01]: This is like the club promoter of the Star Wars galaxy.

[01:20:56] [SPEAKER_01]: Like he's like all dressed up in this like regal attire.

[01:20:59] [SPEAKER_01]: Like he looks like the music man or something.

[01:21:01] [SPEAKER_01]: It's like red with like gold buttons.

[01:21:02] [SPEAKER_01]: They start up with his twitching eyes.

[01:21:04] [SPEAKER_01]: He's got this awful face and he's like,

[01:21:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Man you never could take me down.

[01:21:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[01:21:08] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm the best in the galaxy.

[01:21:09] [SPEAKER_04]: We got so many.

[01:21:10] [SPEAKER_04]: We got so we got such a big army.

[01:21:12] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[01:21:12] [SPEAKER_01]: Just get ready and then that like they're looking at binoculars.

[01:21:14] [SPEAKER_01]: It's like coming towards us.

[01:21:15] [SPEAKER_01]: How many Jedi's?

[01:21:16] [SPEAKER_01]: What do you got?

[01:21:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Like 5,000?

[01:21:18] [SPEAKER_01]: And he's like no.

[01:21:19] [SPEAKER_01]: He's like what?

[01:21:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Like a thousand?

[01:21:20] [SPEAKER_03]: It goes on a little long with the droid.

[01:21:22] [SPEAKER_03]: Like lower, lower, guess lower.

[01:21:24] [SPEAKER_04]: I love how the droid is just playing along in this guessing game.

[01:21:28] [SPEAKER_04]: Lower.

[01:21:29] [SPEAKER_01]: But then they go to and suddenly through the fog comes Anakin and Obi-Wan both

[01:21:34] [SPEAKER_01]: sporting new haircuts.

[01:21:35] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[01:21:36] [SPEAKER_01]: Time jump.

[01:21:37] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[01:21:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Time jump.

[01:21:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Obi-Wan's now cut it close.

[01:21:40] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[01:21:41] [SPEAKER_01]: He's in his episode three look.

[01:21:43] [SPEAKER_01]: Anakin's grown it out to his episode three look.

[01:21:45] [SPEAKER_01]: And this is the first time we've seen Anakin as a Jedi knight.

[01:21:48] [SPEAKER_03]: You know one thing that's weird is that the series depicts Anakin getting his scar

[01:21:52] [SPEAKER_03]: but it doesn't depict him getting his scar.

[01:21:54] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes.

[01:21:55] [SPEAKER_03]: You just cut to, he does this cool battle and then you cut to a scene with

[01:21:58] [SPEAKER_03]: him showing Amidala his scar across his eye which he has in the movie.

[01:22:01] [SPEAKER_03]: Right.

[01:22:02] [SPEAKER_03]: And I was so baffled that I rewound the video because I was like did I miss?

[01:22:06] [SPEAKER_03]: That just happens off screen.

[01:22:08] [SPEAKER_01]: They do show C-3PO hand delivering Anakin's braid to Padme though.

[01:22:12] [SPEAKER_01]: He's like here's a gift it's Anakin's rat tail.

[01:22:15] [SPEAKER_01]: It's a little creepy.

[01:22:15] [SPEAKER_01]: Little creepy.

[01:22:16] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, a lot of this shit.

[01:22:18] [SPEAKER_01]: A lot of that necklace she did.

[01:22:19] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah that guy that she, I think she's pretty creepy.

[01:22:22] [SPEAKER_03]: She knew that boy when he was like eight years old.

[01:22:25] [SPEAKER_03]: That's her season is she's a little creepy.

[01:22:26] [SPEAKER_03]: She's a little creepy guys.

[01:22:27] [SPEAKER_03]: It's not as good.

[01:22:28] [SPEAKER_03]: Because yeah it has a lot of that battle of course on stuff to do.

[01:22:31] [SPEAKER_03]: And that's less interesting.

[01:22:31] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean I still...

[01:22:32] [SPEAKER_03]: Do you like Anakin with the like makeup where he goes?

[01:22:35] [SPEAKER_01]: I want to finish the Palpatine thing first and then we'll talk about the Anakin ride.

[01:22:38] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm down with the chase.

[01:22:41] [SPEAKER_03]: The Palpatine Grievous.

[01:22:42] [SPEAKER_03]: The Grievous chase.

[01:22:43] [SPEAKER_03]: I still think it's the action of that is great.

[01:22:46] [SPEAKER_01]: I agree.

[01:22:46] [SPEAKER_01]: I like putting a different Jedi at the center of it especially a female Jedi is a nice mix

[01:22:51] [SPEAKER_01]: to be like she's the one leanest mission trying to defend him.

[01:22:53] [SPEAKER_01]: He lets himself get caught.

[01:22:54] [SPEAKER_01]: Like the thing with the window where he's like I don't think they're coming.

[01:22:57] [SPEAKER_01]: But he knows Grievous is gonna come for it.

[01:22:58] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah of course he does.

[01:22:59] [SPEAKER_04]: And he's also like I will not flee?

[01:23:02] [SPEAKER_04]: Like so yeah Grievous pops his head in and she's like right behind you.

[01:23:08] [SPEAKER_01]: But he does try to make it a moral issue.

[01:23:10] [SPEAKER_01]: He's like I must stay here for the people.

[01:23:12] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm not fleeing.

[01:23:13] [SPEAKER_04]: But then even when Grievous comes in he's like I'm not scared of you.

[01:23:16] [SPEAKER_03]: Like what?

[01:23:17] [SPEAKER_03]: But Grievous continues being rad.

[01:23:19] [SPEAKER_03]: Here's a question I have.

[01:23:20] [SPEAKER_03]: Does Grievous know that Palpatine is on his side?

[01:23:23] [SPEAKER_03]: I guess not.

[01:23:23] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't think he does.

[01:23:24] [SPEAKER_03]: I think Dooku is Grievous' guy.

[01:23:28] [SPEAKER_03]: And we see Dooku training Grievous.

[01:23:29] [SPEAKER_03]: There's some flashbacks to that.

[01:23:31] [SPEAKER_04]: Oh what a good scene that is too.

[01:23:33] [SPEAKER_03]: Very good scene.

[01:23:34] [SPEAKER_04]: Oh my god how do we not talk about...

[01:23:35] [SPEAKER_03]: Wait we have to talk about real quick though because he gives a couple explanations.

[01:23:40] [SPEAKER_03]: He goes look those Jedi were tired.

[01:23:43] [SPEAKER_03]: That's why you won first of all.

[01:23:46] [SPEAKER_03]: Don't start getting cocky.

[01:23:46] [SPEAKER_03]: Don't start getting cocky.

[01:23:47] [SPEAKER_03]: Those Jedi were tired if they weren't tired you would have lost.

[01:23:50] [SPEAKER_03]: Mm-hmm.

[01:23:51] [SPEAKER_03]: Two you have to do unconventional attacks.

[01:23:53] [SPEAKER_03]: Yes which I like.

[01:23:54] [SPEAKER_03]: To keep them on their toes.

[01:23:55] [SPEAKER_03]: Right cause they're gonna know all your programs basically.

[01:23:57] [SPEAKER_03]: And you have to use fear and surprise.

[01:24:02] [SPEAKER_03]: Uh huh.

[01:24:02] [SPEAKER_03]: Like this is the...

[01:24:03] [SPEAKER_03]: It explains why Grievous is formidable.

[01:24:06] [SPEAKER_03]: Yep.

[01:24:06] [SPEAKER_03]: You're like wait why can this robot do...

[01:24:09] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh it's because he's being trained not only is he being trained but he's like this is what the training is.

[01:24:14] [SPEAKER_03]: And you're like oh that scene made it again.

[01:24:16] [SPEAKER_03]: It bolstered Grievous as a villain.

[01:24:19] [SPEAKER_03]: Yep.

[01:24:19] [SPEAKER_03]: And you're like okay cool.

[01:24:20] [SPEAKER_03]: And I agree with your Grievous great in the third season.

[01:24:22] [SPEAKER_01]: He also sees that Grievous has like been collecting the lightsabers of the Jurassic Herald

[01:24:27] [SPEAKER_01]: and Dooku's like don't get caught up on trophies.

[01:24:30] [SPEAKER_01]: Like and that's like oh that's why he has a cape full of lightsabers cause that's his downfall.

[01:24:34] [SPEAKER_01]: That's his arrogance.

[01:24:35] [SPEAKER_03]: It's absolutely.

[01:24:35] [SPEAKER_03]: And but the seed for his downfall and his coughing is planted.

[01:24:40] [SPEAKER_03]: When Mace Windu kind of like force chokes his tummy.

[01:24:43] [SPEAKER_03]: Yep.

[01:24:44] [SPEAKER_03]: And hurts him.

[01:24:45] [SPEAKER_03]: Are we just cutting dry some of that?

[01:24:46] [SPEAKER_03]: Well I mean what else is there?

[01:24:48] [SPEAKER_03]: Well there's just the...

[01:24:49] [SPEAKER_03]: There's some Palpatine business.

[01:24:50] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah I mean there's some cool Mace Windu stuff again like Yoda stuff.

[01:24:53] [SPEAKER_04]: They're just using their force to like literally take ships and throw them into other ships.

[01:25:00] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh yeah.

[01:25:00] [SPEAKER_01]: There's an amazing part where like the ship is opening up and the things are coming out

[01:25:04] [SPEAKER_01]: and Yoda just like puts the stuff back in close as the doors put the ship up in the air.

[01:25:07] [SPEAKER_01]: And another ship comes and Yoda just smashes the two ships together.

[01:25:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah he's just like wow.

[01:25:11] [SPEAKER_01]: All with the force.

[01:25:12] [SPEAKER_01]: All with the force.

[01:25:13] [SPEAKER_01]: Yoda also like in the animation they actually get across the idea that he's as old as he is.

[01:25:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[01:25:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Like cause he moves with like an age but also with an intelligence that comes from like experience.

[01:25:24] [SPEAKER_01]: The animation on Yoda is amazing in this.

[01:25:27] [SPEAKER_01]: The Hammerhead shark Jedi, he's got like four throats.

[01:25:30] [SPEAKER_01]: Trying to find his name.

[01:25:31] [SPEAKER_01]: And he like breathes out of them and there's a part where like they're coming towards him

[01:25:35] [SPEAKER_01]: and they're like hold back and he just blows them out.

[01:25:39] [SPEAKER_01]: It makes this like insane scream.

[01:25:41] [SPEAKER_01]: Loud noise.

[01:25:42] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[01:25:42] [SPEAKER_03]: And then there's the joke.

[01:25:46] [SPEAKER_01]: He goes...

[01:25:47] [SPEAKER_01]: Right.

[01:25:47] [SPEAKER_01]: That's a Georgie-Porgie thing.

[01:25:49] [SPEAKER_01]: That's like definitely putting in more dialogue.

[01:25:52] [SPEAKER_01]: But Grievous like plants his feet into the ground cause they're like hooks

[01:25:55] [SPEAKER_01]: and then retracts the rest of his body inside his stomach.

[01:25:58] [SPEAKER_01]: He's just like feet and it's rad and you're like oh this guy cannot be stopped.

[01:26:02] [SPEAKER_01]: Like anything keeps coming.

[01:26:03] [SPEAKER_03]: He keeps coming.

[01:26:04] [SPEAKER_03]: So they are an elevator.

[01:26:07] [SPEAKER_03]: He's like as fast as the elevator somehow.

[01:26:09] [SPEAKER_03]: They get out, then they introduce those guys with the purple thing.

[01:26:14] [SPEAKER_03]: They're like droids with light, their own kind of lightsaber kind of thing.

[01:26:17] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh the Magna guards.

[01:26:18] [SPEAKER_03]: Whatever they know.

[01:26:18] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah that's their call.

[01:26:19] [SPEAKER_03]: So they introduce those things.

[01:26:21] [SPEAKER_03]: They're coming out of them.

[01:26:22] [SPEAKER_03]: There's this awesome scene with like the subway, they're in a subway station.

[01:26:25] [SPEAKER_03]: They're in a legit subway station.

[01:26:27] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh this fucking rules too cause it's like grounding us in the reality.

[01:26:29] [SPEAKER_01]: Like it's like this is like the world we understand.

[01:26:31] [SPEAKER_01]: This is course not.

[01:26:32] [SPEAKER_01]: This is the city.

[01:26:33] [SPEAKER_01]: But the trains are so much faster.

[01:26:34] [SPEAKER_01]: So fast.

[01:26:35] [SPEAKER_01]: And there's a real like tension and a threat because it's like not only is there

[01:26:38] [SPEAKER_01]: a lightsaber battle here but if they move the wrong direction these trains

[01:26:41] [SPEAKER_01]: just gonna cut them off.

[01:26:42] [SPEAKER_01]: They're gonna slice them in half.

[01:26:43] [SPEAKER_01]: It's a better designed sequence than anything.

[01:26:45] [SPEAKER_01]: That's happening.

[01:26:46] [SPEAKER_01]: In revenge of the Sith.

[01:26:48] [SPEAKER_01]: There's one moment that for me like exemplifies how season three is a little more overwritten

[01:26:53] [SPEAKER_01]: than one and two where like one of the Jedi's behind Shaak Ti is like going forward

[01:26:58] [SPEAKER_01]: and she turns him and goes like wait not yet.

[01:27:01] [SPEAKER_01]: And season one and two that would have been done wordlessly.

[01:27:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Like she would have held out her hand.

[01:27:05] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[01:27:05] [SPEAKER_01]: They would have looked at each other and they would have stood still.

[01:27:07] [SPEAKER_03]: It's the problem with the 15 minute like like that's where it is right?

[01:27:11] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay so the other plotline that we have to talk about in season three.

[01:27:14] [SPEAKER_01]: How are we doing for time Ben?

[01:27:14] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh boy we're almost at an hour and a half.

[01:27:17] [SPEAKER_03]: I was gonna say.

[01:27:18] [SPEAKER_01]: So this right we'll go through this quickly.

[01:27:19] [SPEAKER_01]: The other plotline in season three is Avatar.

[01:27:22] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh yeah.

[01:27:23] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah I right.

[01:27:24] [SPEAKER_01]: I totally forget about it.

[01:27:25] [SPEAKER_03]: I really totally cool with not even talking about it.

[01:27:27] [SPEAKER_03]: It's pretty bad.

[01:27:28] [SPEAKER_02]: It's so dumb.

[01:27:29] [SPEAKER_02]: The one thing I did want to say about that that was interesting to me was that it

[01:27:33] [SPEAKER_02]: shows why they would want to take the planet's life force or just like it gave me more

[01:27:39] [SPEAKER_02]: of a sense.

[01:27:40] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[01:27:40] [SPEAKER_02]: Of like what the bad guys are doing to this planet and how it's affecting

[01:27:44] [SPEAKER_02]: the planet.

[01:27:44] [SPEAKER_02]: Well in Avatar they want the Annotanium I don't understand is that not clear?

[01:27:47] [SPEAKER_01]: No it's exactly the same as Avatar.

[01:27:49] [SPEAKER_01]: It's blue cat people who have a powerful resource on their planet are very influenced by Native

[01:27:54] [SPEAKER_01]: American culture.

[01:27:56] [SPEAKER_01]: Anakin comes to them as the outsider.

[01:27:58] [SPEAKER_03]: The elders though like you know there's that guy who's like you know he looks like

[01:28:02] [SPEAKER_03]: a freak.

[01:28:03] [SPEAKER_03]: Somehow everyone knows their language.

[01:28:04] [SPEAKER_01]: I think it's a little force.

[01:28:06] [SPEAKER_01]: They decide that Anakin's like they're prophesized one he has to go save them

[01:28:10] [SPEAKER_01]: it turns out the Watt Tambor is like taking all their men and turning them into

[01:28:13] [SPEAKER_01]: super monsters and the fact that Anakin has a robot hand is like it's very

[01:28:17] [SPEAKER_01]: doctor.

[01:28:18] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh yeah his robot hand gets destroyed.

[01:28:19] [SPEAKER_03]: But Obi-Wan I mean Anakin does get to be a hero in it.

[01:28:22] [SPEAKER_01]: That's what I like about it.

[01:28:23] [SPEAKER_01]: I think it's a little clunky but it does show Anakin having to like relate to

[01:28:27] [SPEAKER_01]: other people care about other people save them.

[01:28:30] [SPEAKER_03]: He's a less dynamic character we don't like it as much that's why we don't

[01:28:32] [SPEAKER_03]: like it as much.

[01:28:33] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[01:28:33] [SPEAKER_01]: But it like gives him a little more ground and going into Sith.

[01:28:36] [SPEAKER_01]: That he's like lived through something tough where I had to like make sacrifices

[01:28:40] [SPEAKER_01]: and like care about other people and not just show off.

[01:28:43] [SPEAKER_03]: I think the end of Anakin's arc with Ventress is like a way better button.

[01:28:47] [SPEAKER_03]: I agree no question.

[01:28:50] [SPEAKER_03]: I will can I just go back to the creepest chase.

[01:28:53] [SPEAKER_04]: Just because it ends so because they have you with Shakti right.

[01:28:58] [SPEAKER_03]: Yes she like kind of like is like okay I'm gonna go ahead I'll be the

[01:29:02] [SPEAKER_03]: hero I'll stop them.

[01:29:03] [SPEAKER_03]: They come and she like faces off like 10 of them.

[01:29:06] [SPEAKER_03]: You know it's doing pretty good but then realizes because they start backing up

[01:29:10] [SPEAKER_03]: that Grievous wasn't there the whole time knew where the other people were going

[01:29:14] [SPEAKER_03]: so now she's left them he kills both of them both of the other Jedi.

[01:29:21] [SPEAKER_03]: She when she gets there she can't this is the first time you see it so

[01:29:25] [SPEAKER_03]: she gets there she's doing she's doing pretty well then there's a moment

[01:29:29] [SPEAKER_03]: where she's got both she's he has the two lightsabers on her lightsaber yeah

[01:29:33] [SPEAKER_03]: and they're doing that kind of like classic white struggle and then all of a sudden

[01:29:37] [SPEAKER_03]: two arms come out right which is very too more the reveal of that was amazing

[01:29:43] [SPEAKER_04]: when they reveal it in the movie suck it's after thought it's thrown on it's

[01:29:49] [SPEAKER_03]: terrible but when they reveal it here you're like oh my god and she's like I'm

[01:29:53] [SPEAKER_03]: done yeah oh actually I'm sorry happens it happens even before that happens

[01:29:56] [SPEAKER_03]: when he kills the two Jedi yeah but like that reveal of the four arms and

[01:30:00] [SPEAKER_03]: the four lightsabers you're like damn they can't win and he's following Duke

[01:30:04] [SPEAKER_03]: who's advice yeah he's scaring yeah and then he grabs and then he grabs

[01:30:07] [SPEAKER_03]: Palpatine he gets in the way he's mad cocky at this point Mace Windu

[01:30:11] [SPEAKER_03]: finally gets there and he's like I got four lightsaber so what are you going to do

[01:30:15] [SPEAKER_04]: it's gonna just crush his chest with the force just crushes his chest he starts

[01:30:20] [SPEAKER_03]: coughing he backs up into the thing the ship goes up Mace Windu can't

[01:30:24] [SPEAKER_03]: grab it with the force and that and they're gone the greatest compliment I can pay

[01:30:28] [SPEAKER_01]: to this series is it actually does make revenge of the Sith and I Yoda better

[01:30:33] [SPEAKER_04]: it really does it explains a few things it's an I Yoda a little bit better

[01:30:38] [SPEAKER_01]: I didn't think anything could make that movie better yeah okay

[01:30:41] [SPEAKER_03]: terrible this movie that this show makes it better makes a little better it does

[01:30:46] [SPEAKER_01]: right by grievous it does right by all our character certainly right by the Jedi

[01:30:50] [SPEAKER_03]: order yeah I would say Palpatine's the only one it doesn't totally do right by

[01:30:54] [SPEAKER_03]: design is good he's got a lot of jokes a lot of jokes a lot of jokes does right by

[01:30:59] [SPEAKER_01]: Star Wars it's everything that George claims he was trying to do with Star Wars

[01:31:03] [SPEAKER_01]: one up by someone he hired as a throwaway sometimes three minute shorts

[01:31:08] [SPEAKER_01]: that air before Operation Kids Next Door or whatever you know been 10 alien

[01:31:13] [SPEAKER_01]: force right and this guy just fucking ran circles around

[01:31:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Gendy Tarakovsky is a fucking boss I love it bitch super quick merchandise

[01:31:22] [SPEAKER_01]: spotlight okay as you said he really wanted to jump start the toy sales

[01:31:27] [SPEAKER_01]: well because attack the clones is a romance so kids didn't want to buy the

[01:31:30] [SPEAKER_01]: toys let's make a war plot line so they made up designed all these characters

[01:31:35] [SPEAKER_01]: like Durge and Asajj Ventures I think were created to sell toys first

[01:31:38] [SPEAKER_01]: and they started selling toys that summer that were like realistic

[01:31:42] [SPEAKER_01]: like they looked like they were from the live action movies and they did

[01:31:47] [SPEAKER_01]: alright yeah and people immediately were like why don't you have toys that look

[01:31:51] [SPEAKER_01]: like these cartoon shows badass cartoon like the cartoon shows episodes were made

[01:31:55] [SPEAKER_01]: to support the toy line right and so they finally like bent and were like

[01:32:00] [SPEAKER_01]: fine we'll make them but they're gonna be really limited and they're only sold

[01:32:02] [SPEAKER_01]: like Target we're only making a couple characters and I like Grumpy New York City

[01:32:06] [SPEAKER_01]: was not a target couldn't get him didn't have them last night while watching this

[01:32:10] [SPEAKER_01]: in the middle like in breaks in between ejaculating everywhere I did immediately

[01:32:14] [SPEAKER_01]: go on eBay and I ordered every what it what it what are the toys

[01:32:18] [SPEAKER_01]: it's a dooku Yoda Asajj Ventures Durge Anakin Obi-Wan Mace Windu and a clone

[01:32:26] [SPEAKER_01]: trip so I ordered you got all of those how much you spend $60 that's

[01:32:31] [SPEAKER_01]: pretty good that's pretty good yeah there was a grievous those were released

[01:32:34] [SPEAKER_01]: during season one and two so grievous wasn't released until season three later

[01:32:36] [SPEAKER_01]: so I have to buy him separately because it wasn't part of the set but grievous was

[01:32:39] [SPEAKER_01]: at the end of season two yeah but they didn't make a toy season because it was only

[01:32:43] [SPEAKER_01]: in the last episode yeah the only other ones they made were grievous and then they

[01:32:46] [SPEAKER_01]: made Anakin covered in the blue lines and they made a bunch of clone troopers

[01:32:49] [SPEAKER_01]: in different colors but grievous is like the only unique character I don't have

[01:32:54] [SPEAKER_01]: so I ordered all of those merchandise spotlight that's the power of merchandise

[01:32:58] [SPEAKER_01]: you can bring them in when you get them yeah you make a thing I like

[01:33:02] [SPEAKER_01]: I'll buy it off eBay immediately George that's the lesson here you make some

[01:33:06] [SPEAKER_01]: contact chips I'll buy him grievous is so terrible in a minute

[01:33:10] [SPEAKER_03]: no I was talking to a fan once and he was like we need to get him a contact reader

[01:33:14] [SPEAKER_01]: that's really sweet yeah well Christmas is coming up as is Chonika

[01:33:37] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean like I hate saying that's a pipe dream it feels like a pipe right it's a

[01:33:41] [SPEAKER_01]: sad thing to say but and a central woman with agency too yeah that's you know

[01:35:09] [SPEAKER_03]: they do know we were Chewbacca scene they do a Wookiee scene was it was

[01:35:13] [SPEAKER_01]: a Chewbacca yeah I think there's two Wookiees it looks like Chewbacca

[01:35:16] [SPEAKER_03]: although it's it's say his name but also I feel like you guys are making a bigger

[01:35:20] [SPEAKER_03]: deal of Chewbacca than he is in the sit in the movie because in the movie it's just

[01:35:23] [SPEAKER_03]: they just they're just like Chewbacca you know it's just like it's just like

[01:35:27] [SPEAKER_03]: it's just that Yota line and then Yota line it's the Yota line where he's like we've always been friends

[01:35:32] [SPEAKER_01]: and you're like I don't think he doesn't even say that he says Chewbacca thank you so much

[01:35:36] [SPEAKER_01]: for speaking at my wedding that time you gave me a loan of $5,000 I feel like he's

[01:35:44] [SPEAKER_01]: helped save me you wrote a college recommendation for my kid um there is

[01:35:49] [SPEAKER_01]: a moment with a Wookiee who looks like Chewbacca and a little boy and I just want to point out

[01:35:53] [SPEAKER_01]: dude's got a bandolier much like Chewbacca and Sip except it looks like naturally

[01:35:57] [SPEAKER_01]: made cool like it's not like fucking metal and like polished leather it's like

[01:36:01] [SPEAKER_01]: more like rustic and organic like the armor of the Wookiees why wouldn't they

[01:36:06] [SPEAKER_03]: make him look like that in the movie you know I just realized that Wookiee

[01:36:09] [SPEAKER_03]: Pedia is referencing the Wookiees oh that's weird it's weird they're not a

[01:36:13] [SPEAKER_03]: major part of the movie but I think that but I that actually makes sense to

[01:36:16] [SPEAKER_03]: me because Wookiee Pedia has like all of these lit like tiny information that

[01:36:20] [SPEAKER_03]: nobody would really know about it makes sense they would take some obscure

[01:36:24] [SPEAKER_01]: Wikipedia that's also major thing

[01:36:27] [SPEAKER_01]: Grieva Pedia doesn't have the same ring to it well thank you for being on the show

[01:36:58] [SPEAKER_01]: it's a really long line my friend I'm giving Ben to cut it off that's what it is in the movie
